Oh, he looked really shocked from what I saw on the lunchtime news! 🤔
Smirking and smiling.

Lawrence Fox
(382 Posts)He has been suspended by GB News for comments made about a female reporter Ava Evans , " who would want to s**g that, the comments were made in reply to something she has said about male suicide. Why do these misogynistic men think that their penis is the thing that women crave? Grow up and get real , Sex is not the B all and end All of everything, and they way they wave it about who in their right mind would.
He - Wootton - was suspended after Fox shared private messages apparently showing that Wootton knew in advance what Fox was going to say, and found it funny.

So Fox can't claim it was just an angry outburst on the spur of the moment!
Had he talked about this in a sensible way, pointing out what had happened and how it detracted from proper debate, people might have taken notice.
Instead, he's made it all about him.
Yes he should have challenged her appropriately, as now the whole focus is once again not on Male suicide.
Exactly my thoughts Galaxy, but having read the op again, more of it was given over to misogyny and sex, than the topic of male suicide.
So perhaps those of us who think we should look at the subject matter, and not LF outburst are out of step with the original op?
Would there have been a thread here if he had challenged her appropriately, I think not

Yes, it appears to have been pre-planned. Fox has published private texts between himself and Wooton.
I don't watch GB News, so didn't see what happened, but I have seen a clip of what Fox said (without the contextual bit that led up to it), and reports about what happened which included the context. Whilst I can understand someone snapping if a nerve is touched, doing so in such a way is unprofessional and unacceptable. He should have questioned the appropriateness of the comments, not commented on whether he would climb into bed with the woman who made them! Is she supposed to be upset that he wouldn't want to? It is comments like that which give the likes of Andrew Tate credibility in the eyes of misogynists of both sexes, and I think it is right that Fox and Wooton were suspended.
What is an inquiry going to find? The clip is there for all to see. A more useful inquiry would be one into male suicide, depression and general mental health. It is a very important topic which deserves analysis and coverage by much more serious 'presenters' than those clowns. Is Fox even a journalist? My understanding is that he was expelled from Harrow, didn't attend university because of the Head Teacher's report on his behaviour and went into acting on the back of the family name. How that fits him for a career in politics and tv news presenting is anyone's guess.

No, there probably wouldn't. But we aren't talking about male suicide, are we? We are talking about Fox. If his motive was to highlight mental health in young men he needn't have made it about him, but could have used his unearned platform as a presenter to raise the topic properly. If he had calmly pointed out that Ava Evans' comments were not relevant to the subject there would have been no need for this thread.
I am taking about male suicide,
Yes, but the thread isn't about that, it is about misogyny. If you wanted to talk about male suicide you could have done so at any point by starting a thread about it.
I didn’t watch the debate. I believe the programme was about male suicide, which no one should undermine, any suicide is a tragedy. A proportion of women seem intent on undermining men, which is appalling. I have lots of great men in my family and those comments hurt.
However, Lawrence Fox, with his spitting, foul language was unforgivable. He is not representative of men, no way. He doesn’t deserve to work.
Wootten claims that his mind had wandered and so didn't take note at first of what Fox was saying. However, the clip of Fox's tirade shows Wootten smirking.

Fox was angry because there was a discussion about male suicide and Evan's detailed it.
Instead of using the anger to highlight and further the debate on male suicide, he has derailed the discussion further by his stupidity.
As a result, people are discussing misogyny.
He's just not very bright, is he.
Wandering apostrophe from autocorrect!
No I am afraid he isnt.
Should I know Evans? I have just scanned her Twitter feed and there doesnt look to be much of interest, or much that is that controversial.
She said the reason more men under 50 commit suicide is partly because women aren't so successful.
Just seen the clip where Fox said some tirade about a female journalist saying something like well no one would want to sleep with her
what an effing ass he is I m glad he’s been pulled up and the idiot presenter who was laughing andsmirking at his words is pulled up too
I didn’t see the original discussion but this was enough
Fox claims that Wootton knew what he was going to say, it was all a set up! Totally vile, the pair of them. To those who defend him, would you be happy for your daughter or grand daughter to be talked about in this way? Or your son or grand son to talk like this?
I saw the clip so I know what she said on there but I wondered if she had had form. I didnt find much of interest on her Twitter. Both women behaved poorly in that interview I thought. The man was very patient.
It's always best to know as much as possible, I find BlueBelle or we end up doing exactly as LF did, putting our foot in it (not you necessarily).

She was wrong, he was unprofessional. Only one of those things is relevant here.
Agree

Yes, his comments about Evans' 'shaggability' had nothing whatsoever to do with her comments, and nor had did they add anything to awareness of male suicide. They were misogynistic, pure and simple.
He's the author of his own misfortune. Despite his privileged start in life he was expelled from school, wrecked his acting career (was he in anything other than Lewis and one episode of Foyle's War?) by his arrogant treatment of a woman in the Question Time audience, failed in his bid to be London Mayor, his loony right political party failed, his marriage failed and his ex-wife won't let him see his children (despite being good friends with her other ex) and now this. How much longer can he rely on nepotism to give him a career?
Ava Evans has history on social media referring to who she would and wouldn’t shag

That is unedifying, but context is all. To say that as an 'argument' against comments in a TV interview is very different from someone tweeting about her private life.
Does she. I am not doubting you, I have just scrolled through her Twitter and it was completely bland. I am afraid I thought both women had their mantras and werent prepared to deviate from them, one of the flaws in identity politics in my view. None of this however changes the fact that Fox is an idiot.
