The best bit was when they were arrested.

Les Mis is all about protesting.

The people who paid for tickets, transport and in some cases overnight stays in London were pretty pissed off (first hand knowledge from a staff member on duty at the time)

Those at the disrupted performance will have their ticket money refunded, but they still have paid out on numerous sundries, some were tourists, some were there for a special night (anniversary, birthday etc)

Just Stop Oil have no idea how to win over hearts and minds however, they are flipping good at alienating themselves with the general public.

Because that’s the only tactic they can dream up.
Their cause is good, but their actions don’t match.

Missing a theatre performance is annoying. Continuing to use fossil fuels will be catastrophic. Most people have their heads in the sand, they need to make people listen. The government won’t do anything unless the public pressure is there. What would you suggest they do? Are you in denial about climate change or just don’t care? What will your grandchildren think of you when it becomes irreversible?

Nobody will listen whilst they continue to alienate and antagonise ordinary people who are powerless to change things anyway. They are people who don’t actually know how to engage with the public and get them on their side. In any case, the public will never be on the side of anyone who advocates making life both difficult and expensive. The scientists will solve this problem in time, but until then, JSO are simply punishing ordinary people with their disruptive and at times dangerous stunts. It’s called how to NOT win friends and influence people.

I know how dare JSO do such terrible things. They won't change governments mind. Chaining themselves to railings, disrupting plays and sporting events. That kind of behaviour never did any good. I mean Women just went to parliament and simply asked for the Vote!

*Or is it just that they are already making an effort to reduce their own usage, but don’t know how to make the rest of the world do the same? Whilst at the same time acknowledging that people need jobs to earn money in order to survive which involves transport, heating, lighting, etc. and no one has come up with a way to solve that problem.
If the whole world stopped buying anything that needs transporting from elsewhere, using fossil fuels to do it, what would happen to the tea planters, the banana plantations, the grain farmers.

They will do the same as we are doing now. They will blame everybody who went before them.

I think they should try targeting a Premier League or major international football match! They'll soon find out how popular their tactics are. Alienating the general public who they need to support their aims.

My first thought when I heard of this , was I would have been pretty miffed had I been there, my second thought was the protesters must have had tickets to get into the theatre , what a waste of money for them , they are the best part of £75.00 to £100 a ticket, did they buy their own or did stop oil HQ pay.
