Just to say I know of a Christian guy of Indian origin who converted to Islam when he married a Muslim lady. Years later, they divorced.

He passed away recently whilst working in Africa. His children brought his body home from Africa.

Even though they are Muslims and their mother is Muslim, they decided to follow his last wishes and he had a Christian burial.

I thought Fiona Bruce shut down the QT discussion tonight on Israel/Palestine far too quickly leaving many audience voices unheard and wasted time by allowing two panel members to make statements before the audience got a chance to say anything. Very poor programme management.

I doubt the siege will result in the 'moderates' getting rid of Hamas. Hamas is armed and the population are not.

Then Israel will have to do it, the only uncertainty is how many civilian deaths will result, Hamas seems intent on using the population as human shields, with the US and others supporting Israel they are not going to back down. There is said to be 1000 tunnels on Gaza so it’s going to be a very long difficult campaign.

I am a tad worried about Israel’s tactics - I can’t see how advising everyone in Gaza to move south will succeed in getting rid of Hamas? Surely they will largely move south with the civilians?

Apparently there are 10s of thousands well armed and well trained Hamas so it is not going to be remotely easy.

I feel empathy for citizens of Gaza and Israel.

I just do not know why there is so much antisemitism in the world, it makes me weep.

There are Jewish children unable to go to school today as their schools are closed for safety. Those who are open have told pupils not to have any uniform on show, the boys to hide their head coverings with baseball caps!

I absolutely agree with everything you are saying.

There is going to be a blood bath in Gaza, it won't finish off Hamas but it will provide a constant supply of new recruits for terrorist organizations. What the Israeli govt is doing is no more acceptable than the vile massacre of innocent Israelis by Hamas. I'm ashamed that our government does not take more of a stand. I'm confident that many Jews, Muslims and Christians feel like this too, these are war crimes. Weasel words from the Israeli army on the news this morning, how on earth do you move half the population to the south, the roads have been bombed, there's no fuel, no water, barely any food? What about the injured people, what about the children? Hamas has already won by showing the Israeli govt is as inhuman as they are.

The U.K. is sending ships to patrol the area, one of which is a hospital ship.

The alternative is to give a green light to terrorist organisations worldwide that they can carry out the most heinous atrocities without fear of reprisals if the hide amongst civilians…

When the Israeli army bash in the doors of children’s sleeping quarters at dawn and kill babies in their cribs, behead families and burn houses with people inside after binding their limbs, including children, undress the body of a woman they have slaughtered and ride around in an open jeep mocking, mauling and spitting on her body then you can say with honesty that they are as inhuman as Hamas terrorists.

Hamas are cowards, as already stated, they attacked only when people were asleep and went mainly for civilians, in their beds and unarmed or young people at a music festival.
Nor do they have a noble cause.Their cause is different to getting equality for the Palestinian people.Their cause is annihilation of the State of Israel and all Jews in the region.

Corbyn was a disaster as the result of the election showed. His supporters call him a man of peace and accuse those who saw through him as being brainwashed by the msm.

Of course a diplomatic solution is the only solution here but, it’s so entrenched we need a miracle or skilled mediators / negotiators acceptable to the Israeli govt and Hamas. I’m at a loss to identify a way forward that doesn’t involve bloodshed

I do find the idea of 'rules of war' confusing. Surely, any war is the total breakdown of rule, law and order . And all combatants in war see to lose their humanity as they regard any on the other side as less than human,

Of course what Hamas did last weekend was an atrocity, but locking up so many people in such a tiny area of land and depriving them of normal human rights is going to make a bomb that goes off every so often. As usual the only winners are those making and selling weapons, the losers are civilians, and many people on every side jus wanting tyo live their lives in peace.

What Israel is now doing, against civilians - is a total breakdown of any law, even those of war. It is totally horrific and they will be condemned for these actions for many a longhyear, long after it has been forgotten the original atrocity that started it. The extreme right wing Israeli government must be very happy - they have long wished to bomb Gaza out of existence. So strange that the finest Intelligence service in the world did not know in advance about the proposed Hamas attack last weekend!!!!!

We all need to remember that the winning side puts into their histories about Freedom Fighters, the losing side had terrorists. For the 'little people', on both sides it makes small diffference, as they lose their homes, the families and their lives.

The children in Gaza have absolutely nothing to do with Hamas, they have had no choice to live anywhere else and are totally innocent of any crime other than living in the wrong place.

I think people need to understand that Hamas hiding among the people in Gaza can’t possibly be a reason for Israel not to go after them.If they didn’t, then the murderous incursions by these terrorists would happen again and again.

They won't get rid of Hamas, we didn't get rid of the Taliban or Isis. They might be weakened but they will pop up again. I am inclined to think that the more people are oppressed, the more likely they will be recruited into terrorist organisations because they don't have a future. Happy people with enough food in their belly and hope for their children don't become terrorists.

I think that to do that Israel would have to totally obliterate the whole population of the Gaza Strip.

foxie48, I agree with your comment about the difficulty in getting rid of terrorised. We can’t forget though the intransigence and bigotry that some are drawn to. The people who tried to murder the police officer in Northern Ireland recently had enough food and the prospects for their children were as good as for most of their neighbours.

It will make Israel every bit as bad as Hamas if they bomb Gaza indiscriminately punishing innocent men women and children who already have nothing with no where to hide. All it will do is act as a recruiting sergeant for the Palestinian cause. A no win situation for all.
