Hamas has attacked Israel

It’s being reported that Hamas has launched 400 plus rockets into Israel along with its men shooting Israeli civilians in the streets.

Israel has retaliated with extreme force, are we heading for yet another all out war in the Middle East?

I was scrolling X (Twitter) and found the most appalling video posted by Hamas showing a dead Israeli women, stripped naked and being driven around whilst her body is being abused.

I do not think I can ever remove those images from my brain, yet again women being abused/defiled by men as an act of war.

The letter was written before the bombing of the escape convoy. Maybe somebody could justify the killing of up to 70 people doing what they were told to do by the Israelis and fleeing to the south of Gaza.

Probably the biggest arms suppliers to rebel groups, are China, Russia and Iran so let’s see some balance in this forum. China will pay for resources in whatever form the seller wants legal or illegal. Russia doesn’t care they will even arrange mercenaries if needed and it’s Iran that is funding Boco Haram, Hamas, Yemeni rebels and the other terrorist groups.

Galaxy Sat 14-Oct-23 15:59:34

Nope no one is going to do that. Because we dont. See how easy it is.

Errrmmm ... this wasn't about the supply of arms. That's what happens when people don't look at sources. They assume and get things wrong.

decision to prosecute comes in response to Israel’s directive to 1.2 million people in Gaza to immediately leave their homes in northern Gaza and move south. This order will result in mass forced displacement which may amount to both a war crime and a crime against humanity. The siege of Gaza, restricting electricity, food, water and other basic necessities, constitutes collective punishment, which is also a war crime under the Geneva Convention. At the same time, Israel has continued to bombard Gaza with massive and indiscriminate airstrikes, killing over 1,799 people, including 583 children.

The UK government has provided military assistance and economic and political support. Now that war crimes have been carried out, continuation of such support and assistance would mean that UK Government officials would be complicit in the commission of war crimes and potentially crimes against humanity. This complicity, formally known as ‘aiding and abetting’ war crimes, may mean that UK government officials are individually criminally liable for breaking international law.

I don’t know why the picture came up. That was for another site. 🤷‍♀️

That picture was on a FB group page and for some unknown reason was taken down.
It is very poignant.

I mean a FB group I belong to sorry, MerylStreep

I honestly wouldnt hang your hat on Crispin Blunt. He generally retracts his views and apologises after a few days.

Yes, I won't post a link but it's easy enough to research.

So Israel is guilty of the war crime of collective action, holding people responsible for the action of others.

I don’t have much time atm but watching a news item yesterday there was a segment dedicated to misinformation online and people were being urged to get the news from news bulletins. I haven’t seen anything definitive about this white phosphorus and I watch Al Jazeera as well. Saw a Hamas commander being interviewed on there earlier and he wouldn’t answer questions he didn’t like and was very belligerent.

Let's not forget the heading of this thread.

Israel has bombed convoys trying to move South as directed by the Israelis. These civilians have no chance.

NO evidence found whatsoever for the beheading of babies- which has been now proven to be fake news of the worst order- and which had a massive effect all around the world.

The Russian invasion of Ukraine was so easy to deplore. The bad guys were the Russians as everyone agreed. This Hamas/Israel war is a very different matter.

Along with the white phosphorus “photograph” I take it.
Anthony Loyd of The Times has called out the picture of a young boy who was allegedly burnt by phosphorus in Gaza as incorrect
The photo was one which he took in October 2019 after the Turkish used it on civilians in Syria .

So are you in agreement with the BBC who will not call Hamas terrorists even though many countries and the EU, have designated them thus?

Al Jazeera is owned by the government of Qatar.

Qatar is an ally and financial backer of Hamas

Probably not the best link to post, fleurpepper

Re the BBC: have you read their explanation for why they do not use this terminology? They say it's their job to present the news and let people make up their own minds how they feel about what's reported and use the language that they want to use. Seems reasonable to me.
As previously stated- one man's terrorist is another man's freedom fighter. Not for the BBC to say which is which.

MayBee70 Sat 14-Oct-23 17:31:44

Over 2,000 + Palestinians are known to have been killed thus far. Does it matter how they were killed? The fact is that most of them are totally innocent and do not support Hamas.

GrannyGravy13 Sat 14-Oct-23 17:35:11

The estimated 1,000’s of protesters in London are chanting from the river to the sea unchallenged.

For those who do not know the meaning behind this, it is a call for all Jews to be killed from the River Jordan to the Mediterranean Sea.

Galaxy Sat 14-Oct-23 17:35:56

If you think Hamas are freedom fighters you are going to get the shock of your life.

They have no problem calling Daesh (ISIS) terrorists or the IRA and numerous other terrorist grouts though.
