I would imagine that if it was indeed a rogue missile launched by Hamas, Israel, must be a tad worried that they’ve got their hands on such a powerful one, as nothing Hamas has launched at Israel has had such explosive power.

This will step up the war another notch if Hamas have more like that.

Israel has got its iron dome which takes out a fair few of incoming rockets.

I do not think that the fire power of Hamas should be underestimated, nor their ability to blame everyone but themselves.

Israel has held a press conference this morning, emphatically denying the explosion at the hospital was anything to do with them.

I prefer to hold judgement quite frankly. We know that a number of Hamas missives have misfired, but none to the explosive power of the one that hit the hospital.

We also know that Hamas glory death so the death of all those killed will make martyrs of them to be welcomed in paradise- so Hamas, will not cease because of excessive death.

We also know that Israel have not been honest in the past about “unfortunate” collateral and have since proven it was so have admitted their dishonesty.

We know that the Arab contingency believe that it was Israel, and have canceled the meeting with Biden, which might have had the hope of at least a ceasefire.

Frankly does it matter.

What matters are all the innocent civilians who are suffering horror beyond imagination.

It has ramped up the support of Hamas, which in turn has made the region extremely jittery.

Hezbollah and other terror organisations could use this as an excuse to attack Israel.

There will only be losers in this conflict, the innocent civilians. They have lost their homes, possessions, livelihoods and 1,000’s will lose their lives.

The rocket fuel not burned would have made the explosion much worse.

Sadly, and I am in no way wishing to minimise the seriousness of this event, this is just the start of what we will see in Gaza if this incursion goes ahead. Completely innocent Palestinians including women and children will die and those that survive will have lost their homes, possessions and everything they need to live a normal life. IMO it doesn't really matter if they die because of Israel's actions or those of terrorists, the end result is the same and none of it is justifiable.

I’m not but you evidently are with your comments appearing to justify the butchery by Hamas.

Disagreeing with the Netanyahu government is no excuse for seeking to excuse in any way the massacre of innocents.

I'm concerned about all the deaths not just the massacre which happened and which was terrible. But I find the unjustified shooting of civilians just as terrible.

It isn't just a question of disagreeing with the government. I asked what do you do when you see the rights of your people being eroded. Netanyahu is in fact the acceptable face of unacceptable far right views which would deny the rights of Arabs and Christians. To not see the dangers of the rise of these beliefs in Israel is either deliberate or simply uninformed.

Egypt already has a huge number of refugees so to some extent I can understand why it is reluctant to open it's doors to Palestinians (As of 30 June 2023, the refugee population registered with UNHCR comprised 147,999 Syrians, 77,140 Sudanese, 27,142 South Sudanese, 24,444 Eritreans, 16,286 Ethiopians, 7,319 Yemenis, 6,562 Somalis, 5,464 Iraqis and more than 45 other nationalities.) Gaza doesn't border with any other country other than Israel and of course , the Mediterranean, which is patrolled by the Israeli navy.

None of them want 2 million Palestinians descending on their land they are afraid of loosing control, Egypt and Jordan are both heavily reliant on the US to pay for their armed forces as is Saudi Arabia
Due to international pressure Israel has delayed the start of the ground invasion to try to get some aid in and a border crossing open. That now looks a distant aim and they aren’t going to have their army on standby indefinitely, one option now is to start the invasion.

USA has come out and said that the hospital explosion was due to a Jihadi missile which was fired from the cemetery behind the hospital going astray there is a voice recording of Hamas operatives discussing it which has been obtained from security services.

Not sure that POTUS’s phraseology is that important.

What is important is trying to persuade a barbaric terrorist organisation like Hamas to agree to a cease fire in order to get humanitarian aid to the civilians of Gaza.

Personally I think the chances are closer to Bob Hope than some hope.

They are arguing about who bombed the hospital. Isaraelis or Palestinians. How low can you get to do a thing like that, whoever is responsible ? They should be deeply ashamed.

I think it is inportant if the POTUS does think of it all as some sort of game. Political or otherwise.

I’ve listened to the recording of the militants discussing it was their own side, a rocket misfiring and coming down short in Gaza as many of their rockets do, it was launched from the cemetery behind the hospital they say.
Also I’ve seen the drone footage, no direct hit on the hospital building but much damage in the car park and burned out cars.This is not at all what an Israeli hit would have looked like, there is no crater.No damage really to the hospital itself.
It’s a gift to Hamas of course who will stir up public opinion around the world, but essentially it seems as if they are just covering up for islamic jihad, who work hand in glove with
them.
I did think last night, watching images on tv, there were no pictures of a bombed hospital.
Don’t know about you, but I trust the Israeli forces and their evidence more than a terrorist group and their lack of evidence.

If there is evidence that it was a Palestinian rocket that caused the damage the world needs to know, although it probably won’t convince the Arab world

Much as I don’t think Biden should be POTUS and is really getting past it, I don’t believe he’s treating it as a game.
He has the unfortunate habit of using bad phrasing.

Unfortunately he has such a poor track record where gaffes are concerned it almost becomes a habit to look out for them every time he opens his mouth.

Sadly, we didn’t have long to wait but the situation is far too serious to waste time on it.

Cringe and move on.

Hamas are known to store munitions in and around schools and hospitals and igniting these could explain the enormous explosion. It would, as has been said, totally counter productive for Israel to bomb a hospital so it does seem unlikely to be them. Those poor people on both sides. Hard to know what to say it's all so dreadful.
