Woke Politics are the politics of those who realise some people have been disentitled and are aware of social and political issues that can lead to such deprivation.

It is now more likely to be heard as an insult from the two- braincelled polititions of the far and very very far-right and those who think culture wars are really a form of political thinking.

Well I am centre left. We are quite used to people with no understanding of the issue calling us far right. It's hilarious. Whether I would be as rude to call the people who use the far right term 'two brain celled' is debatable.

I don't think the Labour Party is necessarily woke, but it is peripheral in this area and spends too much time on it. There are other inessential issues they major on about too in my opinion. I hope they get down to proper business and leave out all the rest.

I think Starmer has backed off from it all. The reason I hate identity politics (a better description than woke I think) is it never pays any attention to class and money the real dividers in my view. Oh and as we have learnt very recently within the identity politics maelstrom some identities such as the Jewish identity just dont count.

While I question the labelling of 'far right' and 'far left' (who I thought were despised for being 'too woke') I agree with the 'two brain celled'. If people are just repeating culture wars dogwhistle phrases and can't even explain what they mean by them they seem to me to be a trifle hard of thinking...

They can be oversensitive. But then so can those whose lives have been enriched by conditions of entitlement, should anyone ever suggest those conditions be removed.

I don't think being or not being "woke" is a Labour leadership is issue. I do think being unable to escape the many-faced deprivations of being 'disentitled' is. I think it is Starmer's definition of "working class". He talked about it in his conference speech, refering to his sister. It is something he knows about, having been the only one of four siblings who had found away through a disincentivised world.

Whatever creates disincentives, it does seem a good thing to try and put it right.

Identity politics is not interested in class or money, the most important dividers that's the issue. It ignores those completely.
I am also interested in how pretending Male sex offenders are woman fit into Daisys definition, when those decisions impact most on the most vulnerable in society. That's part of what Blair will have been talking about.
I dont think for one minute he cares much about that issue but he recognises an area to avoid in order to win elections. It appears from recent statements that Starmer agrees with him.

The polls have risen 4 points in Labours favour this week.

I have spent the last couple of days just astounded at Starmers achievements, I never thought he would get this far so in this length of time. It is to be honest completely remarkable when we consider where we were. I always assumed he would be the kinnock of the current time.
I would quite like to understand Starmer as a person which I dont think we have yet, I knew who Blair was, warts and all.

I don't like Starmer or trust him, he is a proven liar. He expelled labour members who support Palestinians, even Jews, isn't that weird. He has the backing of the Israel lobby who won't have any mention of Palestine so Starmer does what they want. Could it be that the Israel lobby are afraid that support of Palistine will show up the Israel government their brutal treatment of Palestinians, occupation and apartheid. Independent media, Investigative journalists have spoken written about Starmer and his time as DPP he took the establishment line. He is a dangerous man.
