Palestine is not a democracy, that is why they hold no elections since Hamas took over.
I did not notice any of the Palestinian supporters crowding the streets last week calling for support to rid Palestine of Hamas. Only Israel.

As far as Palestinians are concerned Israel isn't a democracy either as they are denied the vote

Can you really be a democracy if some are denied the vote?
This gives you exact figures on who can vote

Is that Elizabeth Tudor, Elizabeth I, speaking from beyond the grave?

That Defender of the Christian Protestant faith made friends with the Ottoman Muslims.
I wonder if she expected the world to still be in turmoil over religion and land five centuries later.

How do you find this vile stuff?

It's easily available foxie I have just seen it on Twitter.

There are innocents in Gaza, young children.
So many others there cheer on hamas and teenagers have been indoctrinated with hate there since birth.
A good many of the terrorists involved in the atrocities in Israel on the 7th were under the age of 18 according to IDF when they either shot them or captured them.
There will be many people around the world, including sadly, the UK who also cheer on hamas.Just as they did on 9/11.

Yes it popped up on my X (formerly known as twitter) feed.

I follow a few high profile Jews and Muslims and it was posted on them.

Oreo with a very heavy heart I agree with you 😢

Under 18s? that couldn't be anything to do with growing up in what has been described as "the biggest concentration camp in the world". That is Gaza of course. Somewhere where there has been little hope for young people since 2007.
The blockade meant 80% were reliant on humanitarian aid
Over 80% of young people were unemployed.
The Ukraine war increased prices.

Probably, because the Saracens emerged victorious after the crusades a few centuries earlier, Monguls ruled most of Asia, the Moors half of Spain.

Oreo Fri 27-Oct-23 19:36:38

Doesn’t look like a concentration camp to me Glorianny as Gaza has banks, shops and places of entertainment.
If you want to know about concentration camps ask an old Jewish person, a survivor about them.
The under 18’s have been carefully groomed by hamas from birth almost in their death cult, if any decent group had been running Gaza they would have made it a much better place for the people and not spent all the squillions given to them on guns and weaponry and tunnels and themselves generally.

MayBee70 Fri 27-Oct-23 19:56:34

But Palestinians don’t have the freedom of movement that anyone would expect to have in a normal democratic society/country, do they. Maybe concentration camp isn’t the correct description but there probably isn’t a word to describe the way they have to live. They don’t even have control of their coastline and there are checkpoints on land. I assume they are checked when they enter and leave Israel. Can you imagine eg the people in Scotland having to go through checkpoints if they enter England and not having control of their coastline?

tickingbird Fri 27-Oct-23 19:59:45

When they did have freedom of movement they were sending suicide bombers into Israel.

GrannyGravy13 Fri 27-Oct-23 20:00:41

MayBee70 if Scotland vote for independence and then join the EU there will inevitably be a hard border between England & Scotland.

They continue to shell Israel on a daily basis.

Concentration camps were first used by the British in South Africa. They are small areas where large numbers of people are held usually because of their race, and freedoms are restricted.
Until the blockade substantial numbers of people in Gaza crossed to work in Israel. Even so the economy did begin to develop but Israel acted again
In August 2020, Ali al-Hayek, the head of the Palestinian Businessmen's Association in Gaza, told The Media Line that "Gaza's economy has completely collapsed, especially amid the latest escalation, where closing the Kerem Shalom cargo crossing and not allowing the entry of fuel and industrial materials led to an economic catastrophe,"
The restricted fuel supply meant that it was only available for a certain period each day, so manufacturing failed. Israel of course controlled the fuel

Oreo Fri 27-Oct-23 20:12:17

Aveline nice caring people such as yourself maybe can’t see that it isn’t desperation, it’s groups such as hamas being in charge. If years ago the people had stopped sending missiles into Israel, stopped sending suicide bombers into Israeli cafes and stopped stoning soldiers at every opportunity then Israel would have been more in tune with being good neighbours.
Since hamas were voted in things have gone from bad to worse and they have educated the new generation in hate and murder. It’s gone too far now and yes, the people of Gaza are paying the price for that.

Thanks Glorianny but I already knew the history of concentration camps as I suspect most on GN do.
I was making a point.

If you are interested in what Israel is really up to, and the idea that it wants just to destroy Hamas is completely untrue, read this. It's interesting and it explains why Egypt closed the crossing . www.declassifieduk.org/israels-long-held-plan-to-drive-gazas-people-into-sinai-is-now-within-reach/

Grany Fri 27-Oct-23 20:43:11

No food
No water
No electricity
No internet
Now Gaza is literally separated from the world after Israel cut off the internet so that we do not know what is happening to them. Gaza is now being annihilated and the world is still silent
