Fleurpepper thank you for your posts about what is happening in Israel. It seems extraordinary that such a government has come to exist. I do think that our politicians have to take some responsibility for their unquestioning support of Netanyahu. It seems to stem from the general fear of being regarded as anti-semitic. I take comfort from the fact that much of the grassroots labour party oppose all right wing governments.

That's exactly what I thought. Why the need to cover their faces.

In the meantime, there is NO freedom of expression in Israel. Vast numbers are totally against, and live in fear of, Netanyahu and his policies and the bombing of Gaza. They have no right to express their opposition, and Israeli Jews are in constant fear of reprisals and/or sacking from their position in teaching, legal professions, journalists, and so many more- for peacefully expressing their opposition and fears- treated as traitors.

Some have been recently brutally attacked and beaten up black and blue, in the street, for expressing their opinion that there should be a ceasefire, many elderly and frail, but young strong soldiers.

Friends from Israel dispair that so few in the 'West' understand that there is huge opposition to Netanyahu by Jews both in Israel and all over the world. Because they believe that the bombing of civilians in Palestine is so wrong- and also because they know that in the end- it will make the situation much much worse for Jews both in Israel and the rest of the world.

ON LauraK this morning, Chakrabati said quite rightly, Hamas is not an organisation that can be bombed and destroyed- it is an organism, that will regrow from bombed ground and destruction even stronger than before. (paraphrasing here, can't remember the exact words).

One question - is the Israeli flag only representative of Israel, or also used in other contexts?

Yes Fleur.. I believe that both the Israeli's and Palestinians are powerless against these fanatical leaders and that indeed this war will continue without resolve.. and probably escalate into a much more extensive war involving other countries

The police did a good job, despite what others have said despite being a relatively small number it was the right wing thugs that caused most of the trouble and got arrested. The Palestinian Peace march was, on the whole, good tempered and orderly. What I want to know is what is going to happen with Bravermann. A Home Secretary that publicly challenges the Police, publicly spreads opinions that encourages division in society and who uses her position, not to represent the best interests of the whole population but to curry favour with a wing of one political party, needs to go! She doesn't represent "the silent majority" she represents the rather vocal supporters of right wing Conservatives. She should save that for the next leadership contest.

Fleurpepper do stop speaking as if you know what the vast majority of Jews in Israel want as you have no clue.

From the info floating about on social media, which isnt always reliable, she was a member of the CLP but isnt anymore.

Police will be able to identify those without masks and scarves across their faces but prob not the others.I thought the Met said they would stop masked protesters and those with fireworks so hope they managed to do that.
Some of the placards were disgusting as were the hamas headband wearing from some.

To think we have weeks/ months of these marches to come!
Glad we moved out of London when we did.
