A wise move? Or will he come to regret it?

maddyone Mon 13-Nov-23 09:41:15

Thanks again Maizie. I thought not.

Whitewavemark2 Mon 13-Nov-23 09:41:38

scat no she didn’t! We had a lot of far right rhetoric and absolutely no results. Just billions of money spent.

Kandinsky

Hopefully she’ll come back as leader.

😱

Hell on earth!

ronib Mon 13-Nov-23 09:43:52

Well look at this another way - at least Boris hasn’t surfaced yet!

JenniferEccles Mon 13-Nov-23 09:46:04

Oh no. I am so sorry to hear that Why didn’t the PM support her? Yes she could have chosen her words a bit more carefully but at least everyone knows where she stands on many issues which are so important to many.

In any case I can’t understand why he didn’t wait until it’s decided whether the Rwanda plan can go ahead?

She was absolutely spot on with her comments about immigration.

So Cameron will have to be made a Lord.

Surely to god there is someone else!!

There is. Teresa May would be a much better choice, she is much more steady and has some gravitas.

It always shocks me when some Gransnetters display how right wing their views really are, how anybody could support what Braverman stands for, let alone her lack of self awareness, is beyond my understanding. I do applaud Sunak for sacking her despite the undoubted pressure not to.

OldFrill Mon 13-Nov-23 09:46:57

James Cleverly has the post

Urmstongran Mon 13-Nov-23 09:47:59

David bluddy Cameron is to be our new Home Secretary.
Jeez.

Nicenanny3 Mon 13-Nov-23 09:48:42

The Conservatives are finished now.

Urmstongran Mon 13-Nov-23 09:49:18

Sorry. I was wrong! It’s Cleverly.
A better choice I think.
😊

It’s Cleverly

Some of the responses to this posting highlight why this country is divided in its attitude to refugees. Yet refugees are proven net contributors to the UK economy (The Migration Observatory 2022) ie contribute more than they cost. However they require processing promptly and effectively which, if focused on, could considerably reduce a lot of the complainrs associated with them. This government find it easier to stoke the hatred existing in our society while letting labour problems stifle our economy - ask any care home, restaurant etc!

Cameron foreign Secretary? Heaven forbid. Hope not.

OldFrill Mon 13-Nov-23 09:51:17

Cleverly Home Sec

So we have the prospect of an exPM returning, who was responsible for the whole disastrous austerity, and most of all the Brexit debacle.

Unbelievable. After Brexit which he instigated he skipped away humming to himself. He didn't see it through and left the country in turmoil. Cowardly IMO. Rewarded with a seat in the Lord's. Does that mean he can't be questioned in the Commons.

Whitewavemark2 Mon 13-Nov-23 09:54:05

Perhaps Cameron will be the next leader😄😄😄

HelterSkelter1 Mon 13-Nov-23 09:55:07

Does she get a pay off? Will that be 2 pay offs??

Glad to see the back of her, but I fear she will lurk about like an unwelcome guest or prawns sewn into the office curtains.

Hope a general election is on the horizon.
James "not so" Ceverley and David Cameron. You couldn't make it up.

Grannynannywanny Mon 13-Nov-23 09:56:21

So will David Cameron now be a lord before the day is over to make him eligible for his new post?

Any guesses as to how many letters have gone in to the 1922 Committee this morning?
Fortunately there is a mechanism for removing Conservative pms which is tried and tested. It’s just replacements are harder to find……

mamaa Mon 13-Nov-23 10:05:10

Yep Cameron is back- maybe he and Rishi came up with this ludicrous idea whilst standing in the PM's, past and of course present, line at the cenotaph yesterday wink...

I’d guess none. They know they can’t change PM again before the election, they will be an international laughing stock.

I don't think it's hasty at all . I would think that he has had it at the back of his mind after every time she opened her mouth.
Indeed according to news he has been under great pressure.
Don't forget Braverman was sacked previously.

I agree that it was probably not hasty.

The right decision IMO but he was always going to be damned if he did and damned if he didn't. Her supporters wont be happy and if he hadn't sacked her, he'd have been seen as weak.
He was in a cleft stick, Smileless. There may be trouble ahead 🤔

Good grief, Kandinsky!!
😲

Urmstongran Mon 13-Nov-23 10:07:27

Lord and Lady Cameron?
Samantha will be delighted. Boris will be incandescent.

Nicenanny3 Mon 13-Nov-23 10:09:46

No one voted for Sunak to be PM although his constituents did vote for him to be their MP, but Cameron is not even an MP no one has voted for him but there he is the new foreign secretary. Dodgy dealings indeed.
