Thank goodness for that, I am extremely relieved that they have made this ruling. It will be interesting to see how the Govt will react to this. I was particularly interested in this quote from Lord Reed on BBC in Oct 2020
“We don’t do politics, we do decide legal questions which can have political ramifications and they can be important political consequences, but the issue we decide is strictly legal issue.”

Perhaps dispersing immigrants from the Paris ghettoes to cities around the country and an uncertain future is a start, before the Olympics next year 🙂

It doesn’t really matter how well or badly the French treat migrants. What matters to me is how we treat them here.

Yes, but when we are compared to the French and found lacking, it is a good idea to put the record straight.

The worse the French treat them, the likely they are to come here. Why does that not matter to you?

GSM as I have tried to explain they are well-treated and supported if they want to stay in France, but some people keep going back to Calais to try to get to the UK. In the groups that I met, they wanted to go to the UK because they spoke English and had family there.
I am not sure what the French government can do about that.

You’re right of course, but some people don’t want to hear it Mamie. They are singing La La La with their fingers in their ears unfortunately.

So shifting them out from where they are settled in Paris and dumping them around the country means they are well-treated and supported?

Or just out of the way before the Olympics?

Cynical - moi?

No Callistemon21 these are centres for migrants who have been arriving in France for many years. As you can see from the data 35% have French nationality and that is extremely complex and takes at least two years.
The SAS centres for the sans abri during the Olympic games are totally different. I don't approve of that policy, but it is down to the pressure on hotel rooms.

We did a similar thing in 2012, eg Operation Poncho, spraying favourite haunts of the homeless with high power water jets. There was an Operation Cleanup with a dispersal zone around areas used for the Olympics and some pretty rough treatment of those engaged in prostitution. TBH it's pretty standard pre Olympic behaviour.
