A perfect example of why trans women shouldn't play against women Iam. I read the other day about a young female boxer who withdrew from a pre arranged match because she hadn't realised her opponent was trans.

The potential for serious harm had the bout gone ahead doesn't bare thinking about.

The sheer audacity of these trans people who actually claim they’re the ones being discriminated against!

Nothing personal against Francesca, but it is just wrong to play sport against women. Unequal strength. It's not fair.

The sweet FA again. Teams will include a transgender player because it gives them an advantage over other teams. A few years back my ladies team played against a team with a transgender goal keeper. They were on hormone treatment but had not transitioned until post puberty. They were huge with giant hands and a gruff voice. My players were terrified and didn’t want to go anywhere near goal where they could be physically challenged. Even worse if the transitioning person is an outfield player. This was allowed by the FA so we had to accept it but it always seemed wrong to me. It’s a shame for the trans person but not fair on other players some of whom may be as young as 16.

There are LGBTQ+ football teams but are more recreational.

If she's built like a man with the strength and physique (and weight) of a man - with all respect to the gender she "identifies" with, she should not be playing with and against women
Would you want your daughter or adolescent granddaughter facing a tackle by a man ? I don't think so.

I see that the cricket league have stated that anyone who has gone through puberty as a male should never be allowed to play sport as a woman, as they have a clear and unfair advantage.

I think that we decided that on GN ages ago.

Three of my grand daughters play rugby. I think our family would really worry if they had a trans player on the opposing team.

Not all discrimination is bad. People who cheat should be discriminated against when a fair playing field is wanted. Women's sports grew to allow natal women to play against their near equals.

Sometimes it's necessary to make discriminatory judgments/rules for the sake of fairness.

Essentially, it's no different from discriminating against people who cheat by taking performance-enhancing drugs.

I’m very much in favour of women’s sport being for women, whenever men or trans women have a physical advantage, and that includes nearly all of them. Of course people who’ve gone through puberty as boys should never be playing against women in football, rugby, etc - it’s dangerous as well as being unfair.

But I’m surprised that the female pool player in your linked article refused to play against a transgender player. I’m now wondering why precision sports such as pool and darts need to be split along gender lines at all. Is there a reason for it?

Men and transgender women (i.e. men) tend to have longer and stronger arms than women. Longer reach will count in pool, will it not? And in any sport involving throwing anything or pulling anything (like darts or archery) men and men who claim to be women will have an advantage.

Common sense dictates that this is a ludicrous situation. Unfortunately, common sense seems to have got up and gorn.

Tom Daley thinks it is unfair that Fina has banned transgender athletes from competing in female sports.

No one has told them they can’t compete, only that they can’t cheat by competing in female sports which, since they aren’t female, seems fair.
Fina are going to introduce an open category that anyone can compete in.
I predict that TW will fight against that.
I further predict that if the open category ever takes off, it could well be filled with very good male swimmers, who think they have an extra chance to win as well as the TW. I don’t doubt there will be protests about that too.
