Tommy Robinson was arrested at today's march against Anti Semitism. Today's good news. (apart from the hostage release)

From the Guardian:
In a statement the Met, asked about Yaxley-Lennon’s arrest, said: “At around 13.30 on Saturday 26 November, officers working as part of the policing and security operation for the March Against Antisemitism arrested a 40-year-old man on the Strand.

“He had refused to comply with a direction to disperse under section 35 of the Antisocial Behaviour, Crime and Policing Act.

“We have been in frequent contact with the organisers of the march in recent days. They have been clear about their concerns that the man’s attendance, and that of those who were likely to accompany him, would cause fear for other participants. The same view has been voiced by others.

“As a result, he was spoken to and warned on more than one occasion that his continued presence in the area was likely to cause harassment, alarm and distress to others. He was directed to leave the area but refused to do so.

“We’re aware that the man had suggested he was in the area as a journalist. This was not a relevant factor in his arrest.”

I did say I’m not a fan!!!
He maintains the rite, as we all do in UK, to certain freedoms. Like it or not that’s democracy.
Good manners would be individuals not using a disgarded name. I see Banksy is hardly ever called his birth name. Robin Gunninham is evidently happy to be known as Banksy. We know this but don’t use it. Katie Price is not now called Jordan. All I feel is it’s not a ‘level playing field’ regardless of politics - we are a democracy.
Just a reminder. As I said I’m not a fan of this individual.

I've no problem with TM calling himself Father Christmas, if that's what he wants. He can change his name but he isn't changing his behaviour. A democracy has to have rules of behaviour that most people accept, most of us accept that inciting violence is unacceptable and agree with the laws, passed by a democratic process that uphold that. You seem to think that "Democracy" is about people doing anything they want, it's not, that's "Anarchy" Nor is it about people doing what they are told, that's "dictatorship".

The protestors causing trouble in the pro Palestine march far outnumbered the Police on duty at the march. If each Police officer arrested a protestor for an offence committed ( and bear in mind it often takes more than one officer to arrest a unwilling arrested person) then they are away from the march accompanying them to the vans or taking them to the Police Station and the Police numbers would dwindle to nothing by the time they got to the end of the march so I presume that is why the Police rely on CCTV and evidence collecting Police camera operators to film the marches so they can prosecute later but we rarely here the outcome of their investigations after the march.

Isn't it odd how it seems now the police lied

Iam64 Tue 23-Apr-24 15:35:09

In what way

Germanshepherdsmum Tue 23-Apr-24 15:46:39

I would like to know too.

It was his court case today, the Judge ruled that there was no case to answer

Apparently, the police officer wrote the wrong date on some paperwork.

What did the police lie about?

Freya5 Tue 23-Apr-24 19:27:55

See the real news on you tube. Tousi News. The police lied, deleted body cam evidence, changed times on previous paperwork . What a corrupt lot , the establishment were given one in the eye today. Guess they won't be disciplined.

Freya5 I think the Met have got themselves in rather a pickle regarding who they arrest on the pro Palestine marches. The excuse that they are outnumbered doesn’t hold much water with me.

I am not a fan of Yaxley-Lennon /Tommy Robinson but it does appear he was easy to arrest whereas hate preachers, Hamas flag wavers and antisemitic chanters seem to be more problematic for the police to arrest.

This is leading to what some are calling two tier policing which is not good optics for the U.K. police force.

That’s what I said earlier, that the Met are going after the low hanging fruit.
Being outnumbered doesn’t wash with me either.

I've never heard of Tousi News. Who's behind it? How do you know it's reliable?

Tousi look like nice guys.

it's odd that you found and posted on a thread from Nov 2023, no matter the topic.

Having Googled Mahyar Tousi, the founder of Tousi TV, I'm not inclined to believe him. He's Iranian, a supporter of the Shah (not that there's much wrong with that) but he clearly has an agenda. Here he is with two of his friends.

Are people suggesting TM is low hanging fruit? confused

That was because the police made a mistake on their paperwork. Not because he was innocent of the charge.

Saw this thread pop up again, read the new post and tbh was completely mystified. tbh I am no wiser now. It did make me go back to read the thread though and compare it to the thread about Gideon Falter, which was interesting.

Accurate information about the history of the region. It takes a bit of a read, but I felt previous historical claims were inaccurate as regards rights and "ownership".
