Urmstongran not so sure the will of the people applies! More like the will of the mass media machine which Trump controls so well.
Poor USA if Trump really is your will though. How did you sink so low?
Erm .. Personal, much?
People obviously remember what the US was like under Trump, before Biden destroyed it.

I see Trump took New Hampshire. Surprised?
I was surprised, because we have friends in NH and AFAIK Eastern US states like NH do usually tend to vote Democrat.
If an item on the news last night is anything to go by, the drugs issue is a massive one.
The journalist interviewed a woman whose son had died through a dose of fentanyl, which is apparently a huge problem in the US, and Trump had specifically spoken of tackling fentanyl head on, via the supposed route from Mexico.
So the woman in question was certainly voting for Trump.
What I fail to understand, is why the Democrats can’t or don’t find a more inspiring leader than Biden! If the rules need changing, then change them - but then I dare say the Republicans with a say would veto any change that would be detrimental to them.
Trump promised a lot of things. Did he actually deliver on any of them? The wall for example?

A "single-issue" voter? The woman, understandably, will have strong feelings about the matter of illicit drugs. Which makes me wonder how many people vote for Trump similarly (on single-issues).

Does it, in the end, all come down to money?
Like you, I can't believe that there are not younger, more eloquent and energised possible candidates. But - would they attract the donors?
Biden beat two younger candidates in NH, and he wasn’t even on the ballot. It isn’t that the Democrats have failed to put forward alternatives, it is that, so far, registered Democrats (and any independents who voted in the Democratic primary) have preferred Biden.
As with Iowa, Trump’s appeal in NH seems to have been limited. I haven’t seen a full analysis yet ;any US based posters have anything?) but initial analysis shows very little support from moderates , which doesn’t bode well (for him) for a national election
Have some people been on the cooking sherry or worse? Admiration for Trump? Really?
Oh dear, I'll not just have to use the mute button for the next few months, I'll have to use the off button on the remote.
I fear we will have the dyed face and hair (piece?) on our tvs for some time. I can but hope he gathers a few criminal convictions. I believe it is argued that if elected he could pardon himself for federal crimes, but not state crimes - but of course there’s no precedent and perversely he could still be president if in jail. What an unimaginable scenario. I can’t think that camera crews would be allowed into prison to film him, but nothing would surprise me.
Well even the left leaning Economist is predicting a Trump victory……..
Oh God oh God oh God
There goes world order
Indeed it does. But they’ll be ok, sod the rest of us.
GSM what makes you think they will be okay?
Well in terms of defence they stand a better chance than we do if, as Trump threatens, they leave NATO. They are to my mind a very insular nation. We can’t afford to be.
I’m in the US. There are zero indications whatsoever that Trump will pull Democratic voters over in a general election. He is being booted off of multiple ballots. Trump dominating Republican caucasus and primaries is expected. There are a lot of right wingers on here being hysterical as if Trump is winning over voters who were previously staunchly anti-Trump. It’s a bit delusional. This general election is going to split exactly the way was last time, except that Trump may be eligible on fewer ballots. FYI, Trump supporters are amongst the least educated US citizens. Fact: extreme right wingers and white nationalists in the US support Trump as the candidate who most represents their values. That alone says everything there is to know.
For the record, Biden has been and will always be an awful choice for Democrats. It is shameful that the DNC has not used the last 3 years to groom and put forth better candidates. Biden is selfish and self-serving, but anyone who thinks Trump does more good than harm to the US is truly revealing who they are inside. I said what I said…

If I had a dollar every time a publication’s “predictions” or endorsements fell flat…
GSM I wonder if the UK needs to become more insular? I read that the army is short of soldiers and conscription is put forward as a possible solution.
Maybe time to reconsider our lack of personnel and let Ukraine and Putin fight their own battles for example?
I don’t think that sending off our sons and grandsons to fight in Ukraine/Russia is going to be much of a vote winner should it happen !

Let’s just hope they’re wrong then. Do Americans realise how despised and ridiculed Trump is in other countries?
God help the world if Trump gets re-elected, is all I can say. Any hope of rational and safe governance will absolutely be lost.
Do Americans realise how despised and ridiculed Trump is in other countries?
I think that sort of comment drives a few people to vote for Trump.
It's not great to just sit on high horses and disrespect approximately 70 million people
I agree ronib, we need to look after ourselves first. I don’t know if we need more men or more and better technology to do that, or both, but if the US effectively casts us adrift I think we have to rethink the level of support we provide to Ukraine at the expense of our own safety.
How do most political analysts keep their jobs these days? Asking for a friend. FJB

So do you respect and support him then?
Louella12 the point is that for some reason, the influence of the elected president of the USA has an impact on the hapless people who have no vote for him. Such is the influence of the USA that the choice of president does impact on many other nations. So please extend your gaze if you can….
Sorry, can anybody enlighten me as to why these 2 Biden and Trump are all that's available? Oh and what happened to Kamala?
