A drop in the ocean in the great schemes of things....but replicated by how many more
The U.K. has been experiencing a severe shortage of drugs recently and medicine for such conditions as type 2 diabetes, cancer, motor neurone disease and such forth are either extremely difficult if not impossible to obtain. The reason being that we have a close neighbour whose buying power is so much greater than ours.
This morning we have news that the EU has decided to “future-proof” by stockpiling drugs as far as it possibly can, which will further snd severely exacerbate the U.K. s position.
In other Brexit news -trade talks with Canada have completely broken down. The U.K. inherited the trade deal when it left the EU, and has since been in talks to try to maintain that deal as is, but given the UKs much lesser economic clout, Canada has refused to play ball and have walked away from the talks. The fallout will mean that cars manufacturers, cheese manufacturers and beef manufacturers amongst other stuff. now face high tariffs if they wish to export to Canada.
Of course we have already noted that extra bureaucracy due to hit our businesses trading with the EU at the end of January will force prices up.

The groaners do not want to face the truth.
Brexit has been, as many of us foresaw, an unmitigated disaster for the UK.
Those who voted Leave were misled by the Leave Liars - Farage, Johnson et all.
It is difficult for many folk to accept that they were lied to, they were convinced by the lies, and therefore they voted the wrong way in the fraudulent referendum of 2016.
However many have now faced up to that and admitted their mistake.
Others just cannot face admitting they were wrong so continue to try to defend the indefensible.
"Why does it make some feel some uncomfortable"
Because they know, or at least suspect, that Brexit was not the sunny uplands they had been promised. They were duped by Eton educated, self promoting con artists who inexplicably convinced them that they were down to earth sorts who understood their every day struggles.
Posing with a pint of beer in a pub or pretending to be a dishevelled clown are obviously the entry level requirements for the role. Oh, and looking after friends with offshore investments (sorry, forgot that one).
It makes me uncomfortable, as a remainer as it is generally the middle class mocking the working class, with zero understanding if why it might have happened in the first place.
Today my DH did the shopping Our local supermarket no longer has a section for English food. He also went into a small specialist shop which has all sorts of goodies, including some English food stuffs. He particularly wanted treacle and Clipper loose tea but the owner explained that his supplier was no longer sending him those items and many other English foods. Another supermarket used to have a good quality cheddar but I'm not sure whether they still do.
Please don't anyone tell me that I should be eating French food because we do. Sadly the French don't seem to import black treacle.
This is because of Brexit.
Import duties - which the government has postponed 5 times - will legally start next week. Do watch the news clip to see when prices in UK shops and cafes will start rising as a result.
Rees-Mogg has today called this, an inevitable consequence of the hard Brexit he fought for, ‘stupid’.

Galaxy I do understand why (at least some) people voted Leave - members of my own family on both the left and right did so. I don’t agree with them, and I’ve no desire to live with the consequences of their choices, but I don’t sneer at them (except one racist, whom I despise quite blatantly, but then I did before Brexit),
That's democracy I am afraid. I dont want to live with lots of things people have voted for. The alternative ie ignoring the vote is worse.

Hormone fed beef cattle imported from Canada? No thanks! Apart JRM who I’m sure thinks it’s fine.
Along with Canadian population!

Generally, yes. But not exclusively.
And the working class Brexit voters are not shy when it comes to insulting, mocking and even abusing, those middle class they often refer to as the 'elite'.
I would say that there were many Brexit voters from the less advantaged section of society who had every reason to be disgruntled with the way things were.
Unfortunately, they blamed the EU instead of realising that their problems were home-grown. Something Boris Johnson also acknowledged in a published article... until he saw his chance to become PM when he switched his allegiance PDQ.
I have no time for Johnson but I honestly have complete understanding as to why Brexit happened, the left has failed a section of society quite spectacularly and of course the right will capitalise on that.

It’s nowhere near that simple though, is it?
Well no nothing is. But then it's no where as simple as they believed all the lies and read the Mail.
Both those things form small pieces of the jigsaw though. I don’t imagine anybody thinks that the Daily Mail is the main reason, any more than they think the left failing a section of the population is.
The alternative ie ignoring the vote is worse
In this instance, though, nobody is ignoring the vote. Many people are simply highlighting that the results are poor, and suggesting that, as circumstanceschange, so, potentially, do people’s views, and suggesting voting again.
That’s democracy, and it’s how you, presumably, would work to get rid of a government you think is damaging the country (ie, a voting result you disapprove of).
People were told that leaving the EU would mean the UK would be loads better off and have fewer immigrants. The reverse has happened. Imports are going to get even more expensive thanks to Brexit.
The vote was a simple choice - stay or leave.
It said nothing about the type of leave - so what on earth is wrong with closer working?
Re-joining the CU and SM does not mean rejoining the EU but would simply put us into the position so many of the leave campaign (snakes in the grass) promised, but utterly failed to deliver.
Frankly it is imperative that we do something given the parlours state of our economy, which has grown not a jot for a decade.
Democracy would be better served and our businesses could breathe again.
I think the French courts are being pretty mean rejecting the 90 day rule amendment for British homeowners there. It's silly because it will hurt the French economy at a difficult time.
But they do like to punish us in every way possible for Brexit, so I'm not surprised.

we chose to leave - France has no say in the matter!
Now you are whinging because they are keeping to the rules!!
Someone needs a reality check.
Now you are whinging because they are keeping to the rules!!
Well I guess that's a positive for once where the French are concerned!! (Joke)
France is having its own issues
Farmers are taking to the roads and tossing manure left, right and centre.
Government offices suffering the most.
Friends in USA And Alaska are unhappy with everything.
Looks like the western world is revolting.
No Brexit there though

So like the Irish gov, who did not like the first NO, they redid it to get the answer they wanted. Is that democracy,or showing contempt towards the citizens who voted against it. Why bother having a vote at all, perhaps youd like Gov to make the decision, as long as it goes your way of course.!!.

That's correct Louella. French farmers don't like all the mew EU regs they have to abide by ..... like not ripping out hedging and stopping using pesticides that destroy ecosystems.
Are French farmers really hard done by? The ones I’ve known personally did very well out of their small operations. They get grants and tax benefits for loads of things, while UK farmers struggle with very little. Its not a level ploughing field.

I really don't think it's simples at all!
Flawed as I believe the Referendum was, it wasn't a "let's leave and see how it goes" vote.
We were supposed to know what we were letting ourselves in for - as much as it was possible to understand the ramifications!
It's one thing to campaign to re-join at some point in the future - and who knows how long that might be? But another Referendum because we think people have changed their minds?
We would look very foolish indeed to the rest of the world and I think the EU might tell us to hold our horses, too.
I believe it was a huge mistake to Leave - and not just for economic reasons - but we're stuck with it for the foreseeable future.

Most of their protest seems to be about a precarious lifestyle, economic difficulties and competition from foreign imports.
It appears Germany is joining in as well. I'm getting this info from friends living in different areas. MSM doesn't seem to be covering very much.
The whole world seems to be in turmoil. In Texas there's a massive row brewing about the border. Texans are not complying with the Biden administration.
Right political parties seem to be gaining strength in Europe
I cannot see that Brexit has much to do with the tumult. Far more important things to be thinking about. Gen Z doesn't care and those of us who voted to remain won't be here forever. Doing a straw poll with AC and their peers, millennials, shows a total lack of interest in rejoining the EU
