What the hell is happening to this country?
Send these scum to Rwanda ASAP.
Totally sick of these violent criminals being allowed to stay here.
If they don’t?
Then there will always be that question mark, won't there?
And for the woman it will be a lifetime of not knowing after everything she has been through.
I hope the police continue to look for him, despite their working hypothesis that he entered the river.
Of course they could well be right, but if the vile individual wanted to throw the police off the scent, what better way than to spend time on a Thames bridge peering over the edge?
He had apparently been living here for a number of years so he would be well aware of how many cameras there are in London.
As this unspeakable individual was himself injured in that heinous attack, it's said that he would be in excruciating pain which makes it seem likely that he would have discovered that the only way to end it was...to end it all.

It is indeed a genuine question. Often the two groups of people are tied together in conversations.
There is a perception that there is a pot of money/recources and that somehow ex service people and those seeking asylum are in competition. That somehow " our own " are more worthy, a better class of human being.
I have heard and read that reasonable provision is made for ex service personel and I certainly hope so. Any body experiencing poor mental health should be helped.
People seeking asylum are often turfed out of hotels onto the street with nothing and become homeless.
I have never heard of mobile phones being given away and it seems strange that this is still trotted out indignantly, as if they are the very height of luxury.
There are sufficient rescources in this, the 5th richest country in the world to manage change without pitting groups of people against each other.
We are actually the 21st richest in the world measured per capita which is the only measurement that matters see en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_by_GDP_(nominal)_per_capita . As we import more people that are a net cost we fall further down the table ie become poorer. I wish more people understood this.
I understand it cantab, but I’m not sure many politicians do.

What nonsense. Any country has a responsibility to look after its own citizens first and foremost. How can you not? Look at a globe or atlas and notice just how tiny the UK is, and then realise how many people from hundreds of other much larger countries are trying to gain access. It's frightening. Anyone who really thinks we can successfully prioritise millions of people from the rest of the world over our own citizens must be barking mad.
I meant that I understand that we are most likely falling behind in our ‘richness’ because obviously as the population grows, then there are fewer resources ie taxes we’ve paid, to go around. Of course we can just print money, but that tends to lead to inflation, which is unhelpful for those on limited incomes or who are paying mortgages. We have many people who are unable to work, are retired, or don’t want to work - or not at the jobs that are available to them, or are raising children single handedly, and then we have many asylum seekers and people who enter on visas but need support. We need to support our needy and our poor and our pensioners (although a good number of them are financially secure, and the grey pound is extremely helpful in the economy.) Unless we simply print more money, it is inevitable that the country will become poorer, and printing money will make us poorer anyway.
Yes, people are so complacent and naive thinking we are a "rich"country and can support the whole world. We are in masses of debt which our children and grandchildren will not thank us for, and paying more and more tax for less and less services spread across more and more people. And that's before considering housing.
I am neither mad nor silly. Like it or not,the genie is out of the bottle, people are coming and going all the time. I don't think it helps anybody to talk in terms of 'our own'
Before I am accused of being a do gooder or a leftie,my point is that there actually are sufficient resources to go around. It would require the will, and investment in the HO which is in an organisation not fit for purpose.
A major problem is people seeking asylum being prevented from working. This could be addressed fairly swiftly.
It has already been addressed. You must have missed that. Discussed recently on GN.
I would like to know what and where these ‘sufficient resources’ are.
You are actually bullying me now.
I’m not. I’m pointing out that provision has been made for asylum seekers to work in certain jobs, and have asked about ‘sufficient resources’ because I’m not aware of them, but obviously you are.
Well there isn't sufficient housing for a start is there.
Indeed there isn’t. I would point out to cakmib that anyone making a statement which purports to be a statement of fact must expect to be asked to back it up with evidence.
What does sufficient resources mean caknib?
Sufficient housing, sufficient school places, sufficient dentists, sufficient doctors to serve existing GP and hospital needs . . . ?
Sufficient for those already here as well as those flooding in?
There is not a sufficiency of any of those things for our own people, let alone people arriving on boats.
And that’s our problem because???? Why should we take all the scum what about the protecting of our country our women kids etc. return to sender I say too many of these low lives already in our country

Scum is a very provocative word! There might be a few people who attract that description who were born here. What do we do with them?
I see they have got divers out on the Thames, looking for the body of this guy.
Hope it isn't the same team that "looked" for Nicola Bulley.

I agree Nannashirlz
Well I read somewhere that he was visible on the bridge & then obscured by two white vans. After that he wasn't seen again. My money is he got into one of those vans.
That's possible, Urmstongran.
It's amazing how he has just disappeared, especially with those injuries.
I hope his body is found soon so the poor woman and her children can be sure he is dead and can't torment them any more but have a feeling that there are people out there helping him.
Taking your life requires courage. I doubt someone who behaved as he did has much of that. It is far from the coward’s way out which some people call it.
