It’s just been on the news that Charles has cancer and is not taking any duties for now

MissAdventure Wed 07-Feb-24 17:43:30

He isn't disliked (hated) as much as Harry and Meghan.
So many loony royalists around, feeling hurt on behalf of the royal family, there is no telling what might happen.

Anniebach Wed 07-Feb-24 17:41:36

William drove himself from the hospital after visiting Cathrine, he didn’t need two police cars to escort him .

Jaberwok Wed 07-Feb-24 17:36:38

If only he could have kept the visit low key or even private, but a police escort??!! Other members of the RF including the King and the late Queen manage(d) to go about their daily business without such a fanfare, never mind the poor old tax payer picking.up the bill! Privacy is not Harry's strong point, but here's for hoping.

Anniebach Wed 07-Feb-24 17:20:50

I agree jaberwok there were cameras at the airport filming him in America and England, and a police escort, I too hope he doesn’t sell his visit

Jaberwok Wed 07-Feb-24 17:17:05

Oh, and I'm a royalist and a great fan of the RF. Well, except for ??

Jaberwok Wed 07-Feb-24 17:14:45

Sorry I can't agree about Prince Harry. The Kings life is not in danger so why charge 5.000 miles at the drop of a hat to see him? Surely he could have talked on Facetime or whatever and arranged a time convenient to the King to visit, not just turned up. When the King was thought to have a benign problem, there was no question of a visit, so tbh, I cynically regard this as a PR exercise and maybe a money seeking exercise too. Let's hope any conversation remains private and not used for financial purposes. No wonder the rest of the RF gave Harry a wide berth, that's what happens when trust completely breaks down, it's difficult to recover. He's gone back now, sighs of relief all round?!

Suzieque66 Wed 07-Feb-24 16:35:39

Well I wish to know ... you can not read the newspapers or switch off the telly if you want to remain in the dark ...

grannybuy Wed 07-Feb-24 16:30:08

The Royal Family will, of course, know how to bypass the news, but there will still be reporters and cameras lurking about
- even more than usual.

MissInterpreted Wed 07-Feb-24 16:22:25

Megan has

Who's Megan?

sazz1 Wed 07-Feb-24 16:20:11

I'm sad that Charles has been diagnosed with cancer and hope he makes a full recovery. Harry has flown over to support his father which is really good imo. With a diagnosis of cancer it's great that his son wants to rekindle their relationship despite all the bad feelings in the past. Really hope its the start of the whole family coming together again as friends.
I'm a republican but this is a man that's ill and no time for stress, estrangement and bad feelings. Best wishes to them all.

crazyH Wed 07-Feb-24 16:20:08

I feel sorry for Harry. He is a softie, whereas William is tough. The one thing Harry did wrong was write ‘Spare’ . There was no need for that. It’s not as if he needed the money. I hope the brothers will bury the hatchet for their father’s sake.

JenniferEccles Wed 07-Feb-24 16:11:19

Harry has been seen at Heathrow airport according to the BBC.

GNHW investigated, discovered the two usernames, banned her, and deleted the whole thread.

How do you know all that? It was written on some thread or other I suppose?

Elegran Wed 07-Feb-24 15:55:44

GNHQ not GNHW

Elegran Wed 07-Feb-24 15:54:46

Somene got the boot for it only a day or two ago. She had gone on at length about how traumatic her (divorced) MiL's treatment of her had been, and when some of the replies thought her post was very like several similar ones that had appeared lately, she backed herself up with a supportive post under a different username. GNHW investigated, discovered the two usernames, banned her, and deleted the whole thread.

sodapop Wed 07-Feb-24 15:27:29

Heavens above Callistemon21 its hard to believe people would go to such lengths on a site such as this. I learn something every day.

Anniebach Wed 07-Feb-24 15:26:45

Surely the royal family know only too well not to keep rolling
news on

Iam64 Wed 07-Feb-24 15:21:25

I agree it would be good if the press. /media agreed to wait until there’s news on treatment and back off but - they’re all in competition with each other so it won’t hapoen

grannybuy Wed 07-Feb-24 15:01:01

I was sad to hear of the King’s diagnosis, and sincerely hope that treatment will be effective. I’m also pleased that he has allowed it to be public knowledge. Of course it has made news headlines, quite rightly so, but I do agree with some other posters that the media are repeating it over and over to no further avail. The King’s family will be trying to cope with the news, and all that it entails, while, at the same time, trying to remain positive. I feel that the constant repetition, and some conjecture, does not have a calming influence. I think they should leave it now, until there is further news.

Luckygirl3 Wed 07-Feb-24 14:50:54

Hope the op goes well Twig.

I do feel concerned for King Charles, as for anyone else with cancer. But Charles is receiving his treatment about three days after diagnosis. How many more have been on waiting lists for months/years waiting for cancer treatment?

Nobody whose cancer was found whilst undergoing an operation for something else will be waiting.

You do NOT wait for years for cancer treatments. Cancer is so prioritised that people with other ailments sometimes get a bit envious.

Anniebach Wed 07-Feb-24 14:49:05

Was mention of Nostradamus used seriously?

Elegran Wed 07-Feb-24 14:47:10

travelsafar

Just read something about a prediction from Nostradarmus ... excuse spelling if wrong. It's saying Harry will be king not William if anything happens to King Charles!!!! Anyone else read this??? Media gone mad surely!!!!

Nostradamus's many predictions were all so vague that any of them could be interpreted to have foreseen absolutely anything - and have been at various times in history, some several times over and each time predicting something different.

Yes, media gone mad. If they are reduced to quoting someone who has been dead nearly 500 years they are really scraping the bottom of the barrel. Next week it'll be a Roman haruspex inspecting the entrails of a sacrifice and telling us the winner of the lottery will be from Little Puddleton in the Marsh - if the inhabitants of L P i t M rush to buy lottery tickets they are all in for a disappointment.

Perhaps it's worse in NI. We also have to ring A&E. We can't just turn up.
