Am I being cynical or will this herald another opportunity for price rises, stockpiling, etc?

Urmstongran Tue 13-Feb-24 18:30:13

There will be panic buying in the supermarkets the next few days I’ll bet.

GrannyGravy13 Tue 13-Feb-24 18:58:13

I will only panic when certain wines are scarce.

Why? What have I missed ?

It’s all down to the Houthi’s targeting vessels

The price has already risen. Pack of 80 x 4 twinnings tea bags gone from £16.? Last month to £21.20 when I ordered them this evening

Me too!

LucyLocket55 Tue 13-Feb-24 19:18:02

Only drink coffee, wonder when that will be in short supply too?

Doodledog Tue 13-Feb-24 19:26:19

I won't really miss tea, as I don't drink many hot drinks. I keep it in for guests, but rarely make it for myself.

Urmstongran Tue 13-Feb-24 19:28:53

I’ll be over to yours then soon Doodledog. 😁

I’ve got Whispering Angel, no need to panic

kittylester Tue 13-Feb-24 19:38:59

Love my tea...........and my Rose.

Jamie Tue 13-Feb-24 19:40:10

I'll be over there with youUrms Can't do without my tea!
Is it a Manchester thing?

Grandma70s Tue 13-Feb-24 19:42:46

Luckily I’ve just bought some. I could happily live without coffee, but I would miss tea terribly.

I'll put the kettle on grin

Urmstongran Tue 13-Feb-24 19:58:55

I’ll bring the dunkers. 😁

Urmstongran Tue 13-Feb-24 20:01:08

I think it must be Jamie! Honestly I drink at least half a dozen mugs of tea a day. One coffee. That’s plenty. Mind you for a Lancashire Lass my favourite brew is Yorkshire Gold!

Jaxjacky Tue 13-Feb-24 20:25:43

I’d give up wine before tea, Yorkshire of course.

I did ask DH if Australian and New Zealand wines would be adpffdcted.

And wondered if we needed to share a tea bag.

We'll be ok, Yorkshire tea comes from Yorkshire, Jaxjacky wink

Callistemon21 Tue 13-Feb-24 20:46:51

Why does autocorrect change things you don't want changed but not notice an obvious typo?

Desdemona Tue 13-Feb-24 20:48:45

No shortages that I saw today whilst out, the shelves are full (at the moment anyhow.)

Callistemon21 Tue 13-Feb-24 20:49:14

I have a years old tin of loose Yorkshire tea - will it be ok?

I don't think it will kill you...
I have some ancient leaf tea that I might have to disinter from the depths of a cupboard.

Before that, though, I'll let Mr. M save my used teabags for reuse.. (I drink different tea from him). He does it to economise, because I drink very weak tea. It drives me mad and I usually throw them away if I find them lurking on the worktop for reuse😆

Callistemon21 Tue 13-Feb-24 22:13:24

I like fairly strong tea.

Years ago I remember camping and there was a Dutch family camping across from us, the mother used to hang used teabags on the line to dry, presumably to use again. 😃

RosiesMaw Tue 13-Feb-24 22:17:08

Let them drink Prosecco. 🥂🥂
