Am I being cynical or will this herald another opportunity for price rises, stockpiling, etc?

Yorkshire tea is horrid!

It is ridiculous to state opinion as if it were fact.

Nannan2 Sun 18-Feb-24 08:57:57

Yorkshire tea is horrid!(so therel be plenty of that left!(and im a yorkshirewoman!😂) I drink Assam and theres been a shortage of that for ages now😠

Shelves in Waitrose yesterday were empty of tea - quite weird - wondered what was going on. Panic buying I guess.

I have a full caddy and an unopened box in the pantry. Unless we get tea-drinking guests (or Urms pops over with the dunkers) they will last me for years. I shall call the bank tomorrow and arrange for the unopened box to be put in a safe until further notice. If it rises in value it can add to my pension.

I drink lemon and ginger@MaizieD teabags that are really strong so always have them a second time. It used to make my carers laugh when they came and used to say is that your used teabag! So I understand

I will only panic when certain wines are scarce.

🍾🥂🍷👍

Sainsbury’s refused to honour my ongoing delivery order, made over a week ago, for their tea brand. Didn’t even offer me a substitution which they would normally do. Not impressed with their attitude to a loyal customer. [shameful]

Teabags going on eBay!!😂 I’ll worry when the coffee and chocolate run out…😳

Joseann Sat 17-Feb-24 18:16:22

Loads in Waitrose earlier.
My favourite, Yorkshire Gold on offer, 80 teabags.

I drink coffee so I'm ok but I get it! There seems to be a shortage of everything in UK these days from medicines to foodstuffs! 😒😢

I hadn't noticed shortages of anything else much.

Plenty in Tesco's this morning.

Oh well will just have to have hot water and mint from the garden if it comes to it . My father stockpiled a full large suitcase of sugar in the 60’s when there was a supposed to be a sugar shortage and it took years to use it up as no one took sugar ! Not really worth stock piling too much - maybe just a little ! I drink red bush tea anyway ! ☕️

Aldi is cheaper than BNM at moment on Yorkshire tea. I paid £2 for 40 teabags. Then saw 160 for £5.50 in Aldi. Sometimes it pays to have a big box in hand . Nothing nicer than a brew whilst peering out a the rain.

It's the usual scaremongering!

FranP Sat 17-Feb-24 11:20:36

Being fussy about my tea, I spoke to both the Co-op manager and my Rington's rep. Both say they have no problems

luluaugust

I shall be cracking open my Coronation tea tin grin

Which Coronation luluaugust 😁
If it was 1953 let us know what it was like!

I checked my souvenir tins which were a present and they are best before April 2020. I thought they were older than that.

The already opened tin of Yorkshire loose tea is best before August 2006.

I don’t drink tea at all, much prefer coffee and an evening glass of Whispering Angel or Earl Grey/herbal. DH on the other hand is the tea drinker and will only drink Scottish Blend.

Goodness, I’m dim this morning!
Thanks Grandmafrench 😁
Good job I don’t bother with crosswords …

Grandmafrench Sat 17-Feb-24 09:20:06

Twinings, Urms - or Tetleys, or even Tea 🐷 Pigs.
☕️/🥂 xx

Urmstongran Sat 17-Feb-24 08:59:45

Stacks of boxes of tea (all brands) in Sainsbury’s yesterday afternoon.
And eggs.
My Burford Browns had been missing for a couple of days.
I always think of EV our crumpet queen when I buy them.
👋

I’m still puzzling over the tea that begins with a ‘T’ and ends with an ‘s’…
🤔

Sorry, Calistemon.
