I have never seen such a bloody shambles ever!!

Iam reading accusations that Starmer and other members of the Labour Party are being funded by Israeli connections, which is why he acted as he did yesterday.

We need answers.

Your post above Whitewave where did you read the above and did you get answers ?

Sorry annie I keep forgetting.

So far I have discovered that

Declassified has found.

Twenty percent of Labour's sitting MPs have been funded by pro-Israel groups or individuals – including 15 who have been directly funded by the Israeli state. Some 41 of Labour's 197 sitting MPs have accepted money from the Israel lobby.

I suspect that an equal amount are funded by pro-Palestine groups.

Zionism has nothing to do with the Jewish faith

Perhaps its associations now are not but yes, it is very much to do with Judaism. Zion is mentioned many times in the Old Testament, it is a hill in Jerusalem where Yaweh resides. Time and again the Jewish people were exiled from their homeland and time and again they returned.

The name was adopted by a nationalist movement but the "hiraeth" remains.

‘Funded’ in what way? I suspect funding by various groups takes place. We may wish it was not so but it is

montymops Sun 25-Feb-24 15:23:17

Well Glorianny I don’t recall Ukraine bursting into Russia as the first move and murdering hundreds of Russian citizens? I believe it was the other way round? People have a right to defend themselves. I understand that Netanyahu’s brother was the only soldier killed in the raid on Entebbe.

Nor did the Palestinian people burst into anywhere. They were evicted from their lands. They have been under Israeli occupation for over 50 years. Numerous resolutions have been passed against Israel by the UN and it has complied with none of them. If Russia occupied Ukraine (as it did for almost 50 years) should Ukrainians just accept that occupation? Should the rest of the world just permit Russia to slaughter them?

Yes it is friends of Israel group in the Labour Party from individuals and apparently the Israeli government.

Of course this goes on - it would be naive to think otherwise.

Just as a heads up I have t actually pursued this further to be absolutely sure it is correct, so if someone feels like doing so?

I’m a tad busy at the moment

Whitewavemark2 Sun 25-Feb-24 17:11:47

The irony is that labour is constantly accused of anti-semitism.

I also think that by not tackling these overt prejudices which lumps whole groups of people when talking about extremism in all political parties inhibits proper discourse that should be tackling extremism by individuals in the country from wherever it comes.

So disappointing for you Whitewave too busy to follow your
allegations against Starmer and other members of Labour.

Whitewavemark2 Sun 25-Feb-24 20:46:23

Are you talking about one of my posts where I said that I’d read that Starmer was being funded by ?Israel (I can’t remember the actual post) and that is why he acted as he did - and that I needed an answer to this?

Well as you must be more than aware things have moved on a great deal since then and I think I am satisfied that Starmer acted properly and not as had been suggested, during the initial frantic hours of that chaotic day.

annie I was a tad busy because I do have a life outside of GN and this almost always take priority unless I have nothing better to do🙂.

Thanks Whitewave - it’s time consuming to try and unpick the various allegations. It’s too easy to ‘take sides’. These things are rarely either/or.
I’m struggling with a fracture plus I.m no tech genius. Thanks for looking at this

Whitewavemark2 Sun 25-Feb-24 20:54:52

Hope your fracture heals soon. Blimmin’ nuisance though.

Iam64 Sun 25-Feb-24 21:13:57

Thanks - it seems to be going as well as it could but so restricting and it hurts of course

Whitewavemark2 Sun 25-Feb-24 21:19:46

The trouble is these things always take more time than we expect. But the body does slowly do its job and hopefully in a year or so any discomfort will be gone.

Iam64 Sun 25-Feb-24 21:33:56

The hospital say a year by which time my shoulder will be nearly 76. Still I’m doing the exercises and thinking positively. Hugely relieved the fall wasn’t worse

Whitewavemark2 Sun 25-Feb-24 21:43:52

Last post 🙂. I had a shoulder cuff injury that took 2 years to heal. That was 2 years ago now and it is fine. I’m 78😮. Good night😴

Oh! Does it heal on its own? I was offered surgery for torn rotor cuff but apparently it doesn't work so well on older people. I'd be relieved if it has.

maddyone Sun 25-Feb-24 22:37:47

I hope your fracture heals quickly Iam, I’ve never broken a bone but I have had two small bones removed, both trapeziectomies. It is indeed extremely difficult to manage with pain and plaster. My poor old mum broke her shoulder and she was in a lot of pain, and so I guess you are similarly afflicted. Rest, especially rest your arm, and get well soon flowers

Callistemon21 Sun 25-Feb-24 22:45:17

You don't realise how incapacitating it can be, even just getting dressed, going to the loo etc. Sleeping on your back isn't easy unless you're used to it!
I hope it mends well and you're not in too much pain now.

Yes. To begin with the worse was trying to sleep at night, but I looked it up on YouTube and there is a lot of advice on there. - lots of pillows etc. which helped. I did eventually have an appointment with a physio, but although very good she didn’t tell me anything I had not already read.

The trick though is to carry on as far as possible as normal as possible. I am not one to take tablets so I allowed my shoulder to do the “talking” as it were.

After two years I was back to normal and now 4 years it is completely normal - no pain at all if I lie on it.

Iam64 Mon 26-Feb-24 08:31:47

Thanks everybody for your kind and helpful comments. Big praise for our local hospital and my daughters and friends

🙏🏽. For peace in Gaza and Israel. Here’s hoping the mediators can achieve progress and that the extremists could accept the bombing and rockets have to stop.

DrWatson Mon 26-Feb-24 14:16:06

For EVERYONE getting so incredibly worked up about this nonsense:- This is JUST POLITICAL POSTURING.

It's also a TOTAL WASTE OF TIME and EFFORT.

NOBODY, absolutely NOBODY in the Israeli Govt, Hamas, or their puppet-masters in the fascist Iranian regime gives a flying monkey's chuff WHAT resolutions, calls for ceasefires or otherwise are made, no matter if made here, in USA, Paris, or whichever of the EU's several bases they're using this week. NOBODY.

Germanshepherdsmum Mon 26-Feb-24 14:18:47

👏👏👏

Iam64 Mon 26-Feb-24 15:21:13

That is provably correct DrWatson. However, I don’t want to be silenced by -psychopathic bullies. Silence won’t improve things either

Whitewavemark2 Tue 27-Feb-24 04:04:39

Biden is saying that a ceasefire will hopefully be in place by the 4th March.

I have heard a 6 week break talked about.
