Talk Tv reported that Liz Truss has said that the World was safer when Donald Trump was President.. - am very world weary at the moment shock

vegansrock Tue 16-Apr-24 06:29:00

Liz Truss is ridiculous - spouting a load of nonsense to promote her book. She has a popularity rating of -54, so not exactly an asset for the Tories.

BigBertha1 Tue 16-Apr-24 06:36:46

Is Liz Trump turning into Katy Hopkins?

Curtaintwitcher Tue 16-Apr-24 06:39:13

Another politician who lacks self-awareness.

Greta Tue 16-Apr-24 06:46:53

Her interview with Chris Mason was laughable. She seemed impressed by Donald Trump and Nigel Farage -
but not by he Governor of the Bank of England. She looked so pleased with herself...

NotSpaghetti Tue 16-Apr-24 06:51:11

She also "endorsed" Trump as President and said she would welcome Farage into the Tory party.

Ladyleftfieldlover Tue 16-Apr-24 07:11:45

A dreadful woman. Where’s that lettuce?

Another politician who lacks self-awareness.

This, exactly.

She's convinced herself that we are riddled with deep-state leftie something-or-others who sabotaged her miraculous plan for growth.

You'd think that a failed PM who only managed to stay in office for, what, 49 days or so, would retire gracefully and re-evaluate their disastrous premiership which resulted in tens of thousands of families paying £££s more for their mortgages.

Liz Truss reminds me of that old adage about the parents of 'Charlie' - Charlie was a clueless young man who decided the Army would benefit from his recruitment. On his first 'march-past' he couldn't keep in-step... his proud parents observed, "oh look, everyone's out of step except our Charlie".

Just another failed politician pushing her book to make money. Intending purchasers should wait for it to be remaindered! I do find her rather bizarre. Says a lot about the Tory grassroots who elected her as their glorious leader over Rishi.

flappergirl Tue 16-Apr-24 08:21:15

I know this expression is extremely un PC in this day and age but Liz Truss is definitely not the full ticket.

winterwhite Tue 16-Apr-24 08:21:19

Much dislike her blaming of everyone else, esp the civil service. Very dangerous. Odd the way she characterises; everything and everyone opposed to her as ‘left’, meaningless.

Iam64 Tue 16-Apr-24 08:28:37

She’s a strange one that’s for sure

Katie59 Tue 16-Apr-24 08:28:47

The woman is unrepentant, she is right and everyone else is wrong, why do they give her a voice in the media. It is principally her doing that interest rates rocketed, how could an experienced polititian be so grossly negligent to announce a budget without justification.
We thought Johnson was bad but she cost us more in a few weeks than BJ cost us in a year

Aveline Tue 16-Apr-24 08:40:22

I don't understand why she's given the oxygen if publicity.

westendgirl Tue 16-Apr-24 08:47:41

I agree with all the above, but this question remains. How on
earth did such a person become Prime Minister ?

lixy Tue 16-Apr-24 08:48:07

Ugh. That's one book I certainly won't be buying.

MaizieD Tue 16-Apr-24 09:19:33

Aveline

I don't understand why she's given the oxygen if publicity.

I note that the Daily Telegraph, which some people persist in believing to be a serious newspaper, is running a story in which she insists that her budget wasn't a disaster at all.

I expect that it was really the fault of all those woke leftie investors who promptly sold their govt. bonds....

Germanshepherdsmum Tue 16-Apr-24 09:28:27

The woman is deluded. So were those members of the Conservative Party who elected her. Her constituents, of whom thankfully I am not one, don’t have a good word to say about her.

RosiesMaw Tue 16-Apr-24 09:41:02

I too agree with all of the comments upthread!
Her “leadership” was truly a case of out of the frying pan, into the fire.
There must be thousands of people paying hugely increased mortgages or who have gone out of business who regret the day she and Kwasi Kwarteng crossed the threshold of the HoC

Iam64 Tue 16-Apr-24 09:43:57

My mind just went to Angela Raynor in comparison with Truss 😂😂😂

Sarnia Tue 16-Apr-24 09:44:20

It beggars belief that she was even on the shortlist for PM, let alone elected. It doesn't surprise me to hear her opinion on Trump. It's the sort of mindset she has. A nothing politician.

Germanshepherdsmum Tue 16-Apr-24 09:48:47

I remember the discussion here about the leadership contest. One of our number was going to vote for Truss …

Aveline Tue 16-Apr-24 10:40:16

I remember being stunned at her being chosen ahead of Penny Mordaunt. I thought the men in grey suits must have had some sort of agenda.

Germanshepherdsmum Tue 16-Apr-24 10:43:23

Penny Mordaunt would have been a good choice I think. Lord knows what those who voted for Truss were thinking of.

MayBee70 Tue 16-Apr-24 10:45:01

I think she’s got a point there though. I’ve mentioned before that I had a friend who both drove a car and ride a bike so erratically that he never had an accident because other road users kept well away from him. And Trumps presidency was the same because no one knew if he was likely to press the nuclear button either deliberately or accidentally.
