No surprise there.

It has been obvious for months

The video of the vile Hamas boasting how they were going to
rape the young girls, how can Israel rest whilst Hamas can
repeat that October attack again, the decisions of the Israeli government is so understandable

Whitewavemark2 Sun 02-Jun-24 14:42:11

It is if you view the world from a hard right perspective.

Thank goodness the vast majority of the world together with a hefty majority in Israel don’t.

Netanyahu has never had a majority vote in Israel.

Most secular Israelis don’t support him alongside a large minority of practicing Jews. It is only the ultra-orthodoxJews who are firmly behind the hard right.

The things you come out with Whitewavemark2 I never know whether to laugh or cry.

Just reading that the White House is hopeful that if Hamas agree to the plan, then Netanyahu will accept it.

The White House is still insisting that the plan was an Israeli proposal.
Falk seems to have confirmed this, but has indicated that it isn’t a plan they wanted, but it was heartwarming to read that Israel, “dearly wanted the hostages home”

Hoorah to that I say!

The opposition have said that they will support the plan and Netanyahu if the two hard liners try to break the government.

10s of thousands of people are rallying in Tel Aviv in support of the plan and bringing home the hostages.

Meanwhile childhood starvation is spreading. Initially it was largely centred in the north of Gaza, it is now spreading to the south, because the IDF have closed the Rafah border.
Up to 3000 children who are on a special nutrition treatment because they are so severely malnourished have according to unicef had their treatment interrupted.

Two children have died from malnutrition over the past couple of days, and this is highly likely to be a symptom of a far worse problem.

Iam, I no longer believe much of what is reported from Gaza,
videos with only children, videos with only women and children.

Whitewavemark2 Sun 02-Jun-24 16:43:12

“Suffer little children and forbid them not”

How dreadful to deny their suffering.

GrannyGravy13 Sun 02-Jun-24 16:44:15

No child should be suffering from malnutrition in the 21st century.

War is never the children’s fault.

Anniebach Sun 02-Jun-24 16:45:50

How dreadful to cause their suffering, Hamas must pay surely,
those little ones taken from their cribs and raped , little ones
hungry, Hamas

Neither do I.

Didn’t Hamas target Kerem Shalom quite recently

Oreo Sun 02-Jun-24 16:53:36

Am sure that we all want the hostages returned from their terrible ordeal, the time had to be right to force hamas to hand them all over as opposed to 20 here and five there.Which is why Israel was right to go after hamas so hard. That time could be approaching as the remaining terrorists don’t all want to become martyrs they want to live.
After this war is over hamas, what’s left of them have to be expelled from Gaza, or if they hide amongst the people, which is on the cards, then whoever is in charge of rebuilding and renewing Gaza must make sure that hamas is never ever allowed to have any power there, either political or by those thugs on the ground.

I don't know what you have been watching. I've seen men running with a wounded child in their arms, men weeping as they bury the dead, men comforting other men and much more.
One of the saddest things I saw was a woman sitting in the ruins of her home pulling out children's clothing and carefully folding it. possibly trying to recapture the life she once led.

Look, for all those who express these views, it really is so obvious it doesn’t need saying.War is never children’s fault.
It doesn’t stop dictators and terrorists by saying it , nor does it mean that war in some cases is wrong, sometimes there’s just no alternative to stop evil, and governments just have to get on with it.
World War 2 one such war, Ukraine another and Israel against the terrorists who ran Gaza another.

Anniebach Sun 02-Jun-24 17:01:26

So much sadness, the most harrowing things I have seen was last week, a young man who had been a hostage speaking of the
video which showed his young sister still a hostage and Hamas
terrorists boasting of raping their young female hostages

GrannyGravy13 Sun 02-Jun-24 17:09:19

Hamas and their followers are worse than animals, and should be treated with contempt, jailed if captured alive and the keys thrown away.

(Apologies to animals)

Anniebach Sun 02-Jun-24 17:12:31

Yes GrannyGravy yet we are told here that it’s understandable if young Palastinians join Hamas

Of course it's understandable. That isn't approving of anything. It's understanding that leads to developing ways of establishing dialogue and promoting peace.
Oppressed people rebel.

Anniebach Sun 02-Jun-24 22:57:22

I so understand why Israelis have to protect themselves against terrorism, - they now have roots and the Holocaust ,

maddyone Sun 02-Jun-24 23:18:15

Jews have been persecuted for hundreds of years. That’s why they have to defend themselves aggressively. It’s not more aggressive than what was done by the allies in WW2. Hamas are comparable to the Nazis fascists. It’s interesting that only a couple of posters chose to comment on my post this morning, because that is what my Jewish friend thinks. Too many people are not interested in what Jewish people think, unless it supports their view of what is happening. My friend said that people are more concerned for Hamas terrorists than for Jewish women who have been raped. That is what many Jewish people are thinking. They want their hostages freed. The politics can wait. They just want the hostages home.

Vintagewhine Mon 03-Jun-24 07:33:46

Those who believe all Palestinians are members of Hamas might believe that but those who believe Palestinians are also victims of Hamas won't. I believe Israeli Jews and Palestinians both deserve protection and to be able to live in peace and tbh I think that's what most think.
