Starmer’s a decent bloke!

I know people will immediately tell me it’s part of the Labour election agenda but I keep coming across random short stories about small acts of kindness by Starmer. These stories aren’t major incidents and largely involve simple examples where Starmer has encouraged someone by action or deed. Whether electioneering hype or not, I can’t imagine reading similar stories about our current PM as sadly he seems so disconnected from the general public!

I am not sure that being a decent bloke necessarily qualifies you to lead the country.

Spinnaker Mon 27-May-24 10:51:31

I suppose it depends on where you do your story reading ?

Starmer in his own words - just finished

Sunak’s a decent bloke too … so?

Harris27 Mon 27-May-24 12:00:36

I like him he’s a bit shy with the camera but Boris loved it didn’t he? I’ll bite for him as I’m working class and I’ve listened to him and hopefully he’ll do the job!

Maybe Sunak doesn't feel the need for this type of electioneering hype. I've never come across anything to suggest Sunak isn't a decent bloke.

Smileless2012 So it OK for Sunak to promise Fingen Murray that he would raise her bill (in memory of her son Martyn, killed in the Manchester arena disaster) in Parliament before the summer recess…exactly 5 hours before he announced a General Election?

MissAdventure Mon 27-May-24 15:36:01

He's obviously more than a decent bloke, as his 7 million worth keeps bring trotted out as if its some kind of crime.

It suggests he may be pretty clever, too.

Better than electing a womanising narcissistic liar imo. That was never going to go well, was it.

No it isn't fair CvD66 but I did post that I hadn't come across anything to suggest he isn't a decent bloke, not a perfect one.

He’s famously tetchy, apparently.

Does being tetchy mean you're not a decent person Casdon?

random short stories about small acts of kindness by Starmer. what a pity he couldn't spare even one to support Rosie Duffield against the bullies in the party, or even invite her to the Kent election initiative, being as she was the only Kent MP (and has been since 2010) until the Elphicke defection from the Conservatives. Still I'm sure he's planning on a photo opportunity with Rosie very soon, similar to the one with Elphicke.

I guess it depends what you define as a decent person Smileless2012. It’s not what you’d call an endearing characteristic though.

*2017 not 2010 don't know where my brain was there!

DiamondLily Mon 27-May-24 16:09:10

Well, I’m tetchy, not perfect, but I think I’d be perfect at sorting out the Tory mess..😷🤐

Sunak promised the Murray family he’d sort out the bill - while knowing he wouldn’t be in a position to do so. 🙄

Slimy and deceptive.

Meanwhile, Starmer will do for me 😉

Bridie22 Mon 27-May-24 16:14:42

It was a cruel act that Sunak did to the Murray family, as if they haven't endured enough waiting and hurt.

Iam64 Mon 27-May-24 17:00:27

Starmer is a decent man. He’s a decent party leader. I hope he’ll be a decent prime minister

Urmstongran Mon 27-May-24 17:05:35

Starmer is a decent man (although a boring orator).
Sunak is decent too.
I just don’t want either of them.

Let’s hope he gets the chance eh!

“Starmer is a decent man. He’s a decent party leader. I hope he’ll be a decent prime minister”

Agreed Iam64. I think he will be a good PM, because I genuinely believe he’ll put country first, party second. This is what we’ve been lacking for the past 14 years (perhaps with the brief exception of Theresa May)!

Sarnia Mon 27-May-24 17:23:06

If he's a decent bloke, he's in the wrong job!

DiamondLily Mon 27-May-24 17:23:30

I have never found Sunak to be a decent person, even when he was a Chancellor. He’s always come across, to me, as a snake oil salesman.

But, we all view people differently. 🙂

It's a darned sight better than the dishonest shower we have been lumbered with for the last decade or so.

For me the bottom line now is a hint of integrity.
