Doodledog of course working in the sex industry is not your standard middle class career choice. When you have a very high profile mother , I wonder why you would risk discrediting her especially when she is seeking high office?
Maybe it’s just sour grapes on my part having guided my adult children to meaningful and useful career paths. It tends to reinforce the differences between the Labour Party and myself and although I had seriously considered voting Labour, I see that it does not align with my values.
😂
Sour grapes? Why would someone be envious of a mother whose child is working in porn? Virtue signal alert - I am delighted that my children are also on meaningful and useful career paths
. The difference is that I don't harbour resentment that they don't make their livings from pornography, which is what your 'sour grapes' comment is suggesting you are doing.
I am pleased that Mr Dog and I were able to provide a background that was a springboard to their being able to get on those paths, but I otherwise leave the credit for their hard work to them.
Why should AR's son's choices align with the values of the LP? You are making all sorts of allegations here that you aren't backing up at all. You are assuming that he is a member of the LP, and presumably that he has influence over their policies, but seem reluctant to provide evidence of this. You suggest that there is such a thing as 'family political choices', but again, haven't explained what this means. You have also suggested that porn sits somewhere on the left/right axis, but have ignored my request for clarification here, too.
A career in porn doesn't align with my values either, but I am capable of seeing that adults act independently of their parents. AFAIK, AR has not defended her son's choices in this regard.
I'm unsure as to what you think AR should do about this. 'Begging' her son to take down the site is unlikely to work. If it is illegal she could report him to the police, but if not I'm at a loss to know what she could do to please her detractors. Resign? Mark Thatcher wasn't a paragon of virtue either, was he? for what that's worth. His mother didn't resign, though.
I'm not sure what to say about someone's son's behaviour putting you off voting Labour, other than that it's not likely to make a huge difference to the result. If such a tenuous link to their policies is enough to dissuade you from endorsing the policies that do align with your values then you probably weren't considering the vote as seriously as you suggest.
