Hmm.
Standing as a Reform MP after all?
Emigrating to America to canvass for Trump?
Joining the Tory party?
None of the above?

I shall tune in out of curiosity.

Well, to me, it’s obvious he is going to stand for election as an MP. He’ll have his fans, no doubt 😕.

Pray for Clacton!

Rumour has it it will be Clacton

Urmstongran Mon 03-Jun-24 15:33:12

He really is Marmite isn’t he?

The point being though under international law, which we are signed up to 🙄. Asylum seekers are not illegal.

👏👏👏👏

Nobody seems to be able to tell me what is good about him. Apart from " tell it as it is" which could mean anything.

He got us the Brexit referendum. Thank you.

Maybe he’s standing against Yvette Cooper in her Leave voting marginal constituency!

I hope he does, she will trounce him. I suspect though that if he does stand it will be in a current Tory seat with a dodgy MP, as he’s got more chance of winning that than any red wall seat. I’d be surprised if he wins any seat though, he is, as keepingquiet said, a chancer.

Yvette Cooper has a very slim majority c.2k votes. Plus it was a Leave constituency and she was rubbishing those who voted for it. Put Farage in there to set the cat amongst the pigeons maybe as voters have long memories when they feel they’ve been diddled.

I know, but that was the 2019 election, the YouGov/Sky seat by seat poll coming out later today will I’m sure show she has increased her majority substantially. Hers is not a target seat for Reform, they are going for seats where UKIP did well in 2019, which is where there are suspect Tory MPs. With a big swing to Labour, going for seats which Labour already hold would be pointless.
Survation did a piece of work showing which seats they are most likely to win, although probably none.

rafichagran Mon 03-Jun-24 16:05:39

Thanks Urms watching now

Anniebach Mon 03-Jun-24 16:08:04

Cameras, press, a platform, an introduction !

Calendargirl Mon 03-Jun-24 16:17:06

Oh, he’s the new leader of Reform.

Anniebach Mon 03-Jun-24 16:19:09

Noooo, he will be in tv more now

Siope Mon 03-Jun-24 16:19:59

Candidate for Clacton.

I hope they have dolphins.

Really?

And the racism? How does that sit with his fans?

GrannyGravy13 Mon 03-Jun-24 16:23:58

UKIP won Clacton in 2015.

No Dolphins, but Jaywick is part of the constituency. Lots of rather colourful characters there, if you are brave enough to take a trip…

I wonder if he would make a better showing of being an MP than he did when he was a MEP. He was very rarely there.I really don't understand how so many are taken in by him.

Germanshepherdsmum Mon 03-Jun-24 16:29:41

Lord, no. I wouldn’t go within miles of the place. Nor Clacton actually.

fancythat Mon 03-Jun-24 16:31:36

I managed to watch 20 mins. Not bad for me.

Glad he is standing[hadnt realised he has failed 7 times previously though. Enough to put anyone off trying something again].

Didnt agree with his comment of going up against the BillBlogs or somebody, who have been pro the sort of things he agrees with. Saying they went along with whatever,

I can sort of see his point. But in reality, that will make people torn as to who to vote for. Well it would me, anyway.

fancythat Mon 03-Jun-24 16:33:53

And the racism? How does that sit with his fans?

I think the Re form Party have to be very very careful that they dont take things too far. Or their "fans" too far.
They need to be very careful with their speeches, wordings, leadership etc etc.

fancythat Mon 03-Jun-24 16:38:36

I cant take to R ichard Tice.
He has the "dad dancing " vibes to me.

Pittcity Mon 03-Jun-24 16:40:10

It's a very mixed area. Jaywick is down and out, Clacton and Walton are "kiss me quick", and Frinton is "God's waiting room".
Very near us and OK for a day at the beach.

GrannyGravy13 Mon 03-Jun-24 16:45:04

I am rather partial to a day out in Frinton, the GC love Clacton Pier.

Nicenanny3 Mon 03-Jun-24 17:01:24

Well out of Sunak, Starmer and Farage, Farage has certainly got the charisma (think Brexit also the Brexit Party gained the most MEPs) OK the left leaning Grans on here don't like/hate him but in the real world he's very popular and as the new Leader of Reform he will be able to do the TV debates, his supporters have been begging him to come back on the forums. He might be marmite but plenty love marmite me included. Richard Tice although I liked him never had the same presence and Nigel Farage is a household name everyone has heard of him.
