Seems Farage has an announcement to make at 4pm today.

Hmm.
Standing as a Reform MP after all?
Emigrating to America to canvass for Trump?
Joining the Tory party?
None of the above?

I shall tune in out of curiosity.

Farage: “I’ve changed my mind - it’s allowed you know!”.
😁

So popular he’s lost seven Parliamentary elections, all by significant margins.

zakouma66 Mon 03-Jun-24 17:16:10

Its nothing to do with left leaning , the man is a racist and a rabble rowser.

Urmstongran Mon 03-Jun-24 17:20:39

A political revolt. Well, in my opinion, it’s needed. “Nothing works in Britain”.

Photos of NF and RT with Pimlico Plumbers Charlie Mullins today. Wonder if he’s donating some of his massive fortune.

What a narcissist! How important does he think he is to announce an ‘emergency announcement’? He’s desperately trying to turn this election into ‘The Nigel Farage Show’. The media shouldn’t be giving in to him but, of course, they can’t resist a showman - even a sh**show man like NFangry

He’s a complete ass with a very inflated ego and sense of his own importance! He’s chosen Clacton because they have had a UKIP MP previously (defecting from the Tories I believe).

Well out of Sunak, Starmer and Farage, Farage has certainly got the charisma (think Brexit also the Brexit Party gained the most MEPs) OK the left leaning Grans on here don't like/hate him but in the real world he's very popular and as the new Leader of Reform he will be able to do the TV debates, his supporters have been begging him to come back on the forums. He might be marmite but plenty love marmite me included. Richard Tice although I liked him never had the same presence and Nigel Farage is a household name everyone has heard of him.

I love marmite too😋

I managed to watch 20 mins. Not bad for me.

Glad he is standing[hadnt realised he has failed 7 times previously though. Enough to put anyone off trying something again].

Didnt agree with his comment of going up against the BillBlogs or somebody, who have been pro the sort of things he agrees with. Saying they went along with whatever,

I can sort of see his point. But in reality, that will make people torn as to who to vote for. Well it would me, anyway.

If it splits the Tory vote Hoorah! I think the whole of Essex is currently Tory.

What was wrong with that question?

Cossy Mon 03-Jun-24 17:28:44

Rockyroad In the “real world” he’s just as unpopular as he is on Gransnet.

My mother was as Tory as they come and she simply couldn’t stand Farage.

Maybe he’s standing against Yvette Cooper in her Leave voting marginal constituency!

I hope he does, she will trounce him. I suspect though that if he does stand it will be in a current Tory seat with a dodgy MP, as he’s got more chance of winning that than any red wall seat. I’d be surprised if he wins any seat though, he is, as keepingquiet said, a chancer.

Yvette Cooper has a very slim majority c.2k votes. Plus it was a Leave constituency and she was rubbishing those who voted for it. Put Farage in there to set the cat amongst the pigeons maybe as voters have long memories when they feel they’ve been diddled.

I know, but that was the 2019 election, the YouGov/Sky seat by seat poll coming out later today will I’m sure show she has increased her majority substantially. Hers is not a target seat for Reform, they are going for seats where UKIP did well in 2019, which is where there are suspect Tory MPs. With a big swing to Labour, going for seats which Labour already hold would be pointless.
Survation did a piece of work showing which seats they are most likely to win, although probably none.
www.survation.com/will-reform-uk-win-any-seats/

Just for completeness, if the poll is correct Yvette Cooper will get 54% of the total vote, and Reform will get 20% in her constituency.

Farage is right: we need a rebellion against the self righteous, smug establishment. He said Labour are going to win. Of course they are. But we need an opposition to hold their feet to the fire!

The Tories thought it was all over. Well it is now. 👍

Rockyroad Mon 03-Jun-24 17:34:22

Cossy - I don’t know what you are on about. I said I liked marmite. I could really care less who your Mother voted for and who she ‘couldn’t stand’. 🙄

He got us the Brexit referendum. Thank you.

Really?

And the racism? How does that sit with his fans?

If its rascist to disagree with immigration numbers, well you've lost the real meaning of the word.
If you disagree with thousands of undocumented migrants entering the U K, you're racist,
I do wonder why he's not been arrested.

The Tory MP for Clacton was Giles Watling who played the Vicar in the sitcom Bread. He took the seat when Douglas Carswell retired in 2017.

It was Carswell who left the Conservatives for UKIP in 2014. He was the first MP for Clacton as the constituency was only formed in 2010. So I think people were voting for Carswell, who was MP for the previous constituency, rather than for the party.

All to play for Casdon! Look how well Reform have done on FB - apparently. I don’t use it but it has been reported so. There is a momentum gathering now that wants a good shake up of the Westminster bubble, SPADs, media luvvies.

Vote Reform.

Candidate for Clacton.

I hope they have dolphins.

No Dolphins, but Jaywick is part of the constituency. Lots of rather colourful characters there, if you are brave enough to take a trip…

What a snob. Bet there's some colourful characters living near you too.

DiamondLily Mon 03-Jun-24 17:40:01

He’s going to stand for the Clacton seat, currently held by a Tory.

The Tories are going nuts, because they think this will hand Labour the seat.

Why not call the party The BNP and have done. Horrid little man. Richard Tice is standing in my area (Boston & Skegness) and there's a lot of support for him on FB. Not from me! Connections to the KKK, I mean, you couldn't make this up!

Vote Reform.

It’s not going to happen Urmstongran, unless you think Farage is so popular that suddenly people who are in safe Tory constituencies decide to vote Reform instead. I just can’t see it.
