Farage shows his true colours

Farage has told Nick Robinson that the West "provoked" Russia's invasion of Ukraine with EU and NATO expansions

Much as you might expect from one of Putin's "useful idiot" who even had his own show on Russia TV.

Many Western leaders and think tanks predicted further Russian action after Georgia, Chechnya, and the 2014 invasion of Crimea in Ukraine.

Farage is claiming that he only he saw what was coming through his "special knowledge". All self serving rhetoric.

Yes

If Galloway were to make such a dangerous statement in a TV interview he would also rightly be castigated by the media Chestnut. As far as I’m aware Galloway has no supporters on Gransnet, so I doubt anybody would be defending what he said. As it is, Galloway has a minimal public profile, I haven’t heard anything he’s said about this election so far?

I watched a Party Political Broadcast by Galloway on the BBC and the first half was all about Gaza. More about that here:

So Farage doesn't bother me in the least, when we have much more dangerous people hovering in the shadows.

No he didn’t! This is being misreported right, left and centre. He is not a Putin ally but merely pointed out what many have been saying for some time which is that suggesting Ukraine join NATO and talk of EU membership for them were red flags to Moscow.

I think that Farage is right in that some of the countries adjacent to Russia's borders have expressed a wish to join the EU and/or NATO. Neither of those two organisations, however, have asked the countries to join them.

What Farage hasn't recognised is the madness of Putin and his desire to expand the Russian borders to it's heyday. By the end of the 19thC Russia extended to the Black and Baltic Seas and the Pacific Ocean. Putin has used the reasonable requests from his neighbours to join the EU and NATO as an excuse to tell his countrymen that Russia is under attack and also to attack Ukraine.

On another note, Farage seems to think that by increasing the PA to £20k there would be savings in benefits which would help to pay for the refunds. He is still talking in percentage terms which he clearly doesn't understand which suggests to me that he would not be very good at running the country.

Galloway is going nowhere, he has little media profile. An election broadcast is obligatory for registered political parties, but I would be amazed if he gets any MPs. He only has 728,000 followers on X, Farage has 1.9 million. That tells me who people are paying attention to. I think when it reaches the point that he has made front page headlines and all the media is condemning what he has said, even the most ardent Farage supporter should be bothered.

Goodness if I lived in a country bordering Russia I'd want the protection of being part of NATO. Putin made his plans quite clear when he illegally annexed Crimea in 2014. Farage is an idiot.

the political posturing on here is embarrassingly
ill informed, naive, belligerent,
well said
ronib
and others,
plus, had Trump still been in charge,
not one Russian tank would have left
its station, let alone invade,
for whatever reason,
spurious or otherwise
