What are Labour going to moan about if they win the election?

I wouldn’t deny that the Conservatives deserved a well earned rejection, but then I thought Labour deserved a well earned rejection last time.
If each outgoing party didn’t deserve a well earned rejection, they’d still be in power.

Then the new government always blames the previous one, putting responsibility for the problems they face on the actions of the previous government.
It happens, every time, no matter how justified or unjustified the blame is.

Casdon, the OP seems to want a good row to develop. I’m with you in feeling on reading some comments, that I’ve entered sone kind of alternative reality.
The Conservatives earned a well deserved rejection by the electorate. To respond to that by suggesting Labourites might put some responsibility for the awful state the Tories left the country in seems like mega moaning.

Whatever. The post is a bit short on anything factual, more of a "huh, that Labour lot then, eh?" type of comment one might overhear in a supermarket aisle.

I find the whole premise of this thread very juvenile - it is like the politics of the playground.

This made me laugh! Politics always has been like a school playground! I can never listen to Prime Minister’s question time in Parliament. It’s just so awful.!

One thing that will be very different when criticising the current government, is that is will have to be based solely on policy snd not the fact that they lack moral fibre or are corrupt or fraudulent.

So much of the criticism in recent years was because the government was a total moral vacuum

Now that is a brave comment! I have no doubt there will be oodles of such stuff coming out in the fullness of time. Politicians are all human with all the human frailties!

Look at the scandals of the last Labour government, which were some of the reasons we ended up with Conservatives last time.

Don’t we all hope though that any transgressions are immediately dealt with in future, regardless of who is in power? I don’t see Keir Starmer giving people the benefit of the doubt if something comes to light which is a reputational issue for the government. That will be the difference.

If they’ve learnt one lesson whilst in opposition, it’s that thanks to intentional or accidental leaks and the speed of the internet, no transgression is going to remain secret and any failure to immediately deal with such, will continue to be jumped on with alacrity.

Just a tiny, tiny moan. Now that the Tories have gone the comedians won't have so much to joke about. I can only of one right leaning comedian - Geoff Norcott. Even he in recent months has toned down his political leanings and joked about the Tories.

In some respects we have to blame the BBC for having Johnson on HIGNIFY. His first appearance on HIGNIFY was April 1988 when Angus Deayton was in the chair. He had 7 appearances, 4 of them as host. The last was in December 2006. I assume that there were no other appearances because he would have been campaigning to be the London Mayor.

If he had not been on HIGNIFY nobody apart from Torygraph readers would have heard of him.

A lot of people didn't pay attention to the very obvious low opinion that the HIGNFY cast had of Johnson. If they had done so, he might not have charmed so many into helping him reach the highest political position in the UK, where he was clearly out of his depth dealing with the rapid succession of problems.

I suppose this is an example of the Peter Principle ( "In a hierarchy every employee tends to rise to his level of incompetence." ) or perhaps just of the tendency of many people to be dazzled by charisma in a candidate, rather than impressed by quiet competence.

HIGNFY is awful/disrespectful to the Government of the day, their X account is already on Labour’s case.

Now I imagine those to the left will accuse it of being to right

HIGNFY were sneering at Johnson long before he decided to bedome a politician. They were familiar with his work history.

I can still remember that episode and have to admit that I found him very charming and funny. Albeit never dreaming that one day he would be PM.
