There's a clutch of headlines which hopefully indicate Biden my at last be re considering.
D Telegraph
"Biden’s supporters plot to fast-track nomination
Push to use ‘virtual’ vote to confirm president’s candidacy comes as he mistakes gender of his Secret Service chief"
Guardian "Joe Biden says he'd step down as presidential candidate if a 'medical condition emerged"
CNN "President Joe Biden is reportedly mulling a decision to step aside from the 2024 presidential race as a new poll has deepened a dilemma involving Vice President Kamala Harris.
On Wednesday evening, CNN's Jeff Zeleny reported that a senior Democratic adviser has said that the president, who was diagnosed with COVID earlier in the day, has become "more receptive" to calls for him to step down."
Hoping, as the USA needs a president who will actually engage with the world and the many more moderate voices in the USA.

Well yes there hasnt been much truth around this subject for some time so that would be a continuation of the dishonesty.
I think whatever happens in the Democrat Party now is of no use, DT will win the election in November and be back in the White House in January.😱
Biden has let it be known that he is giving the matter consideration. Obama has said that Biden needs to consider his position.
Please let it not be Harris. She does seem terribly ineffectual.
I think Biden will step down before the end of the month, possibly by the end of the weekend. Trump supporters will always vote trump but there are lots of uncommitted voters and the Democrats biggest challenge is to have a candidate who will get them out to vote. There's only about half a dozen swing states in the US that decide the result so all is not lost. We hear the enthusiastic response of supporters at Trump meetings but there are lots of Americans who utterly despise him.
Yes and what he has done to women has lost Trump millions of votes.
There really is time to flip the polls if they get the right candidate
I agree with varian, tho also agree with the concerns about Kamala Harris. Leapfrogging over her at this stage could cause as many problems as it solves. If Joe Biden can be decreed to have such severe Covid that she she needs to step in now she has time to emphasise his achievements. And he may be content to put his support behind her and say so strongly.
Not ideal but I don't see anything else working so well at this stage.
And, Whitewavemark2 his running mate, Vance, is pretty extreme re some women's issues and fairly ambiguous about others. He's been openly hostile about career women without children...
He has said he wants to ban abortion across America - even for rape and incest.
I think he will turn many potential "on the fence" women voters away.
If Biden resigns Harris steps up for now. She could then have a very strong charismatic running mate 🤞
Beginning to feel more hopeful for those over the pond!
It is essential that there is a credible opponent for Trump in the election - Biden is not it and I cannot understand why he does not just step down and put everyone out of their misery. Or at least get the boot if he cannot make the decision himself.
If it were a UK PM then I think he probably would have been gone and another democrat leader elected - but dont the Presidents get elected separately/directly so it works differently.
Luckygirl3 it is not like the UK re removing the PM which is quite easy.
The President is more like a king over there and really has to step down himself.
You maybe know this. Apologies if so.
Call me cynical but as soon as I heard he (allegedly) has covid I thought that could be used as a more sympathetic reason to step down and save face!
I thought - its genuine - but a good chance for "on advice of doctor"

I agree that Biden has started sounding too old and vague, but as long as Trump is not standing down, I cannot view the disappearance of Biden or anyone else with joy!
In my candid opinion if there is an age limit (and there is) on how old a cardinal may be when voted Pope, why on earth is there no age limits on how old a president or prime minister may be?
The Pope doesn't have his finger on the nuclear button though.
Seriously, Biden looks old and very frail, his cognitive decline is there for all to see. We are an insightful human being who can face their own frailties.
From what I've read about Kamala Harris, she would be an even bigger disaster.

That's exactly what I thought!
I find Vance even more terrifying than Trump
Kamala Harris would not be as big a disaster as Trump, that’s the bottom line. There are serious questions about Trump’s cognitive decline as well as Biden’s, and with the added danger he brings to the rest of the world already, him in charge whilst his mental decline worsens a very scary prospect indeed.
It's not clear to me why she'd be a "disaster" except reading the opinion that the US is not ready for a black women to be able to win.
Yahoo news has a long and considered article on this, and includes other possible leaders or running mates.

I would like to know where the people get their information on Harris . She is absolutely qualified and capable .
Meanwhile, yesterdays clown show of an RNC featuring Hulk Hogan and Trump being introduced by the head of wrestling . This is what Trump has to offer . His speech was uninspiring ( aka : boring ) whenever he went off script and off the teleprompter he was unintelligable drivel . Melanie came in stiffly waving and smiling only to sit and look miserable the entirety of Trump‘s speech . It ended with her giving the most wooden kiss ever . Telling !
I actually am voting and voting for Biden .
I think Kamila Harris is ok as VP but I don’t think that she has the communication skills needed.
There are better choices imo Gary Newson or Josh Shapiro being a couple.
Syracute Trump and Vance - the "macho" offer!
I've read quite widely around where Trump gets his votes from and the difference between 2016 and 2020 was he lost white male votes more than any other demographic.
Vance is therefore a perfect running mate if he wants to get them back.
WWM my son thinks Gavin Newsom - but there may be a turn-off as he's from California and I think Harris is too.
Josh Shapiro may be better - he's currently Governor of Pennsylvania - but I've never heard him speak.
By the way, I had Covid recently- and although I started off feeling OK initially, after a few days I was really ill in bed - weeks later I'm not 100%.
I hope Biden does use Covid as a "medical reason" to hand over.
