I think it depends very much on who the Democrat candidate will be. It’s not over yet, there’s a good chance that a charismatic Democrat leader would beat Trump, because despite all the shouting and fawning to him, he isn’t popular with the average American, certainly in the big cities.
No surprises him resigning but 4 months is a very long time in politics, an inspiring new Democrat leader could change everything, we wait and see who emerges as candidate.
Biden’s exit gives Democrats an opportunity to show a competent and reasonable plan for the future of the United States. I sincerely hope that the party have time to get organised and show Trump that the election is not his to win.
So - he has dropped out of the election race but has not stood down as President. Seems we will have to endure several more months with him in charge . He has also betrayed his personally selected VP as SHE will have to scrap with the other power graspers for the nomination .
If he had done the decent thing and stepped down as President she would have taken over and been the heir apparent . He is finishing his career in the normal mode …self centred ,self serving and untrustworthy.
At least he hasn’t caused in insurrection in which people died…

I agree. I like Pete Buttigieg. A Harris/Buttigieg ticket?

I agree with those who think Trump will win no matter who the Dem candidate is now. He’s become an American hero with how he behaved when he was shot through the ear. The only slight chance it has is if they find a younger man who’s got military experience.
I think Jo Biden is a good man. He’s been a good POTUS. It’s very, very sad to see his recent age-related demise, and it must have been a hard decision for him to step down. I believe he’s done it for the good of America, in order to get rid of Trump🤞
Well done Jo - I wish you well. There’s no shame in being 82 years old and not being up to the most difficult job in the world.
I’m keen to hear from our American Gransnetter(s) - what do you think about the decision? This touches you even more than it touches us.
Kamala Harris has of course been slated for laughing at inappropriate moments. Perhaps it’s a nervous thing when she’s being pressed hard during interviews.
