Well well.

I think she’ll choose a white male running mate.

She doesn’t even have the nomination yet. Nobody even knows which route to choosing a nominee the Democrats will decide upon, let alone the outcome of it.

One thing is definite, though. The Republicans have the oldest presidential nominee ever.

This is a real game changer though. Trump has lost his advantage - he is now the old candidate who will be well into his 80s in the next 4-5 years.

True, but a man who appears strong and vigorous and successful and wealthy.
I wonder if the US really welcomes the thought of a female President?

Whitewavemark2 Sun 21-Jul-24 20:24:59

Clinton got the popular vote when she stood.

Oreo Sun 21-Jul-24 20:25:58

She didn’t win however.

Now that Joe Biden has made the decision not to run, I wish the media would stop showing his struggles during the debate against Trump, more or less on a loop. There’s no need to humiliate him.

I've just read that Bill and Hilary are endorsing Kamala.

This might be true or not.

Macadia Sun 21-Jul-24 20:39:18

Biden endorsed Harris for President.

Ginny42 Sun 21-Jul-24 20:45:34

A very short time ago, on 7th June, Joe Biden delivered a stunning speech to a large crowd at the D-Day memorial celebrations in Normandy. Word perfect and one Americans should be proud of. Very sad to see his political career end in this way.

I think and hope history will be kinder to him.

Meanwhile we can exercise our minds on Trump's relationship with Putin, Xi Jinping and Kim Jong Un and worry about his running mate Vance, who has minimal experience for the role and presumably selected by Trump so he can control him.

Cadeby Sun 21-Jul-24 20:58:43

I suppose these are only the front men/women.

Norah Sun 21-Jul-24 21:03:18

Republicans now face voting for the oldest nominee.

When LBJ bowed out from Democratic nomination, Republicans won.

Fascinating times.

Urmstongran Sun 21-Jul-24 21:06:13

I agree Norah.
Pass the popcorn.

Biden refuses to endorse Kamala Harris.

Getting your news from the Daily Mail again😂

Thanks Ginny42 for reminding us of Biden’s DDay speech. It was stunning and delivered by a true statesman. My American friends wanted Biden to continue and point to the good things he’s achieved.
Let’s hope now the media focus isn’t on getting Biden to step down, it can detail Trump’s friendship with dangerous despots, Vance and the way Trump rambles incoherently

Let’s hope the media puts a laser focus on Trump and show him and his all so glaring faults with the same intensity as they did Biden.

Siope Sun 21-Jul-24 21:17:12

True, but a man who appears strong and vigorous and successful and wealthy

This is a man who can’t hold a glass of water, can’t walk down a ramp properly, recently couldnt recall (twice) that Obama was no longer president, confused the leaders of Turkey and Hungary, warned that the world was headed for a second — not third — world war, and called Hannibal Lecter (who he seemed to think was real) a "wonderful man."

Up until now, it’s been strategically difficult to focus on Trump’s age. Now it isn’t, and as Rick Wilson has just said:

Let me tell you about the number of ads on Trump's age and mental health are sitting in the silos at the Lincoln Project

Frankly, bring it on.

Ladyleftfieldlover Sun 21-Jul-24 21:18:36

If Kamala Harris is to be the nominee officially, her running mate will probably be a youngish white male with military experience.

trump must not be elected. I can’t believe any woman with more than a couple of brain cells could support him. He is a real danger to women’s rights in particular and democracy generally.

Siope Sun 21-Jul-24 21:18:44

Sorry, that should say ‘strategically difficult for Democrat campaigners to focus…’

MaizieD Sun 21-Jul-24 21:23:50

I've just read an article in the Atlantic which says that Biden's resignation has pulled the rug from under the Trump campaign's feet because the whole campaign was focussed on Biden's age and incapacity. Now that Trump is the oldest presidential candidate ever they're going to have to ditch it all...

Donald Trump is going to win “bigly” … 😁

That will be a terrible day. I honestly don't know how people could vote for that man as President.

I do recall Urmstongran predicting a big win for Trump in the last election too - it’s not over until it’s over.

I just took this from CNN.

‘While members of Trump’s orbit have publicly said they hope Harris replaces Biden at the top of the ticket, privately, there is some concern about any and all potential candidates, knowing that any change could potentially boost enthusiasm within the Democratic party ahead of the election and therefore increase turnout, two sources close to Trump told CNN.

Trump’s team had been hoping former President Joe Biden would stay in the race.’

NotSpaghetti Sun 21-Jul-24 21:38:37

Yes, I read that too Casdon
Fingers 🤞

And a Harris / Shapiro ticket may be OK

Cadeby Sun 21-Jul-24 21:38:52

What it is that is attractive about Trump?

Galaxy Sun 21-Jul-24 21:41:12

I would imagine that if people are constantly called stupid, racist, etc etc someone who says he likes them would be appealing.
