There has never been a male spouse of a US PRESIDENT and if Kamala is nominated as candidate and elected , her husband would be known as FIRST GENTLEMAN … I wish her every success in the election as she will have to face off with bully boy Trump

Siope Wed 24-Jul-24 11:21:10

Trump is also attempting to sue to stop Harris accessing campaign funds raised for Biden. That will fail too.

They are making it look like they are running scared. It may even be true.

NotSpaghetti Wed 24-Jul-24 11:30:39

And the "never trump" republicans are trying to gift the money raised to Harris too. This is the money raised for Nikki Haley who bowed out!

Kamala Harris is elegant and eloquent. Trump is neither. He finds it difficult to string two sentences together without rambling incoherently.

She certainly is.. a real breath of fresh air

Kamala's first rally in Wisconsin.

"Kamala Harris attacks Trump over 'fear and hate' at first rally"

"The fledgling Harris campaign raised a staggering $100m plus (£77m) in the 36 hours after Mr Biden’s exit.

Adding to her momentum, a new national poll from Reuters and Ipsos shows her with a two-point lead over Trump, 44% to 42%."

I watched her Wisconsin speech last night Bea65 - are you looking at that?

I watched her Wisconsin speech and was sadly disappointed. She spent so long saying nothing of any importance. More business and less laughing would be a good start in the right direction. She needs a top-notch Speech Writer. Obama and Hillary should give her some tips.

NotSpaghetti Wed 24-Jul-24 13:46:22

Macadia there was a lot of "hello" stuff at the beginning to be sure - but I thought it was good, personally.

Speaking is not her strongest point though. She is better at interrogating. I think she seems tough and warm. She comes over as a genuine person who wants to serve the people.
👍
That surely is a plus.

This is what you need Macadia Gerald Ford and Jimmy Carter:

Thank you, NotSpaghetti. How refreshing it was to watch that video and I have nothing but admiration and gratitude for that dear, kind soul Jimmy Carter.

To me. it seems childish for a candidate to bash the other candidate. It also shows weakness and is a method often used by people with low self-esteem, including bullies.I would prefer candidates who propose plans, optimism, comradery, forgiveness, a new start, action, inclusion, intelligence; not a candidate who insults their competitor. Why not talk about their views or hopes on issues around the world. Am I talking about a fantasy? Does that no longer exist in this world? Everyone seems so mean and hateful these days.

I think I've been in mourning since Obama went. Clips from his last speech

thoughtful and inclusive "dont stick to your bubbles"

Yes, Harris would do well to consult with him.

Its an ideal I wish happened.

It's all beginning to look quite hopeful isn't it? I thought Biden had little to no chance against Trump, but Harris looks to be a credible challenger. It shouldn't have been a surprise that Trump and his allies would try to get her disqualified from standing, but it shows how 'running scared' they are. All good signs along with the polls showing her in the lead, albeit only narrowly.

I agree that there should be less of the nasty personal attacks. I can't help comparing the vicious campaign in USA to the generally polite and peaceful handover between Sunak and Starmer.

It seems American women must be thrilled at the prospect of a woman POTUS. Such a long time coming, so many ineffective men POTUS.

Norah Wed 24-Jul-24 15:29:05

America seems enthralled with money - Kamala has raised money quickly.

NotSpaghetti Wed 24-Jul-24 17:04:16

The trouble is Norah the American system seems to need a lot of money!

I've no idea how much the American system needs.

I'm merely impressed Kamala raised money rather quickly. Particularly, as it seems "Republicans have pushed back against Harris receiving benefit of Biden's campaign funds" - I'd assume she needs campaign funds.

GrannyGravy13 Wed 24-Jul-24 18:20:06

Beyoncé and Taylor Smith are to hold a fundraiser concert for Kamala Harris.

Wyllow3 Wed 24-Jul-24 18:29:11

They are trying to stop the transfer, filed a complaint, but it's likely to take some time and ?? legally (checked with CNN)

Great, GrannyGravy13. It means more than the money raised.

Siope Wed 24-Jul-24 19:29:35

I don’t think that’s true, GG13. According to Newsweek and others, the original source of that claim was an article on a very unreliable UK site, which was picked up and tweeted by a US TV bod. Lots of people told her it was inaccurate, and she deleted the post.

As far as I know, neither Swift nor Beyoncé have said they back Harris, although Beyoncé has let the campaign use ‘Freedom’.

Wyllow3 Wed 24-Jul-24 21:18:48

Aw.
