What I would like to know is how did the men contact their lawyer so quickly? Was he on speed dial? And now the lawyer is saying that it was an "attempted assassination". If that's not inflammatory talk, I don't know what is !

It is inflammatory and against the wishes of the family involved.

I don't find it strange a solicitor was relatively quickly contacted tho given the level of violence of the kicking, and expect the policeman involved had professional union support very rapidly too.

I gather he is well known in the community

It is unusual for solicitors or lawyers to speak against their clients wishes, is it not?

The family have made their views absolutely clear, re-affirmed again this morning.

Given the clarity of their repeated wishes I very much doubt they directly sanctioned the solicitor's remarks - which were made under questioning by the controversial Nick Ferrari on NBC in an interview this morning.

I think the solicitor’s words were extremely inflammatory and unprofessional. Neither the police nor the family nor anyone else has made such an accusation.
I think he’s unprofessional.

I made my points on page 5 as to some of the groups involved. Seems to me lots of people trying to use the events to push their own political agendas from different POV when it's still unclear what changed a family dispute into a major incident.

I think that this a good argument for unarmed police where there are no arms being used.

Police must be armed particularly at airports.
We are living in dangerous times in a country with little law and order and thousands of people living here whom we know nothing about.

Still think it's a pity those protesting arn't thinking of calmly waiting till the powers that be reveal all.

We can't stop the remarks from the solicitor, nor Reform MP's, nor Red Top speculation, nor an OTT degree of public protest, but can regret them as unhelpful or even incendiary.

I was talking about the argument for a non-armed police force in the U.K. NOT at airports. I did mention that I am friendly with a Gatwick armed policeman and fully understand the need for armed police.

Of course we need armed police in many situations as well, they are outside various places in London now to keep us safe.

I agree with you that the police have a difficult job. However, how any other Pakistanis or Muslims treat women is irrelevant. The police officer concerned may very well disagree with the way some Muslims treat women (as do I, by the way), but that should not influence the way he treated treated these individuals. If he did let any negative thoughts about Muslims influence him, that is racism.

I doubt he or any of the other police officers involved had time to worry about if the men were Muslims or not when it was all kicking off.All they saw was violent men attacking them.

Police are not routinely armed in the UK, so no need to even discuss it. We all know there are certain situations which require the police to be armed, airports being one such place, and there are others. Best to leave the police to decide where it is necessary to be armed.

As I was cleaning in the bedroom, I had the news channel on and I heard that there is to be a criminal investigation about the events involving the policeman who kicked the man.
