It constitutes a pay rise of between 8.1% and 10.3% as well as a backdated 4.05% increase for 2023-24.

Nurses and doctors have different, overlapping areas of expertise. Doctors are trained in diagnostics and treatment, nurses in patient care and treatment. I’d rather have a nurse stitch me up if I had a minor injury because they do it more often (whether nurse or doctor it’s a part of the job that women are generally better at, they are neat and precise) . I’d rather have a doctor read my X-ray because they know exactly what they are looking for. You could use a thousand examples, but the truth is that they have interdependencies, particularly in hospital care.

Casdon - you expressed that so much more clearly than my anecdotal evidence did

When discussing pay, any doctor who is not a consultant or a GP is a Junior Doctor. It actually doesn't matter what they are called ie foundation, registrar, ST, etc or how long they've been qualified they are still classified as Junior Doctor.

Don't they still have to vote on the offer?
