Looks dreadful. I do feel every day is getting worse and this is just the start of it.

I think this country is finished, no one in their right mind supports thugs behaving as they have. To not listen to the concerns of the ordinary working people who are not racist just concerned about the boats that keep coming over bringing who knows who, is at best extremely foolish and shortsighted. There are no schools, housing and doctors for those living here, it will cause anarchy. Bury heads in sand as much as you will, .We will end up with what we deserve. Wait until it hits more pockets, as the heating allowance is only the start. I face facts.

I believe you are correct Allsorts.

Starmer made a big mistake calling people far right thugs. There may be a few but the majority will be ordinary working people who are just sick and tired of not being listened to. The sort of people who, if they were called to fight for our country, would be out there straight away.

Exactly Jacjacky ‘there are no words’.

And I’m sure, if one of the rioters gets injured, they’ll expect treatment from a practitioner of foreign origin - even though they’d just been protesting about them😡

They are protesting about illegal immigrants not NHS workers who came here legally.

There are two #’s trending on X

#twotierkeir

#FarRightThugsUnite

People are posting their photos and professions, pilots, ex police officers, armed forces members, teachers, elderly, young.

I think the Government has misjudged the room on this.

I am not denying that there are organised disenfranchised thugs who are rioting, but there are also many many ordinary citizens taking to the streets today in Portsmouth, Liverpool, Bangor, Belfast and other towns across the U.K.

And as for Stoke today…

MayBee70 Sat 03-Aug-24 18:35:41

No ordinary citizen in their right mind would join in with these so called protests after seeing what has been happening in other cities. This is organised and coordinated and it disgusts me. As does anyone who makes excuses for this sort of behaviour angry

Did you see one of the Sunderland crowd with the placard
NANS AGAINST NAZIS. I like it.

Yes I did, great stuff!

Put me down for one of these placards.

Oh me too.

And they dare say they want to protect British Culture? This is just sick.

British culture is multicultural, multi-religious, multi most things. And British culture is all about inclusion and tolerance.

Which culture? Celt? Roman? Viking? Angle, Saxon and Jute. Norman? Huguenot? Anything has long as it is white? The English language and cutlure is a mix of all the above and so much more. Tolerance the result of the wars of religion and between all the above groups at some point or other.

If any of those thugs shouted to me ' I am pure anglo-saxon' I'd reply- ah Germans then. They are just sick in the head and heart, and hell bent on destroying what makes this country so so great.

Perhaps they want to reclaim their streets from the more extreme elements we have all witnessed this week?

I think a lot of the people who have turned out to stand against the far right organised riots do think exactly that. They think that be standing up to them they are helping. The problem is, they also get caught up in the moment.

Well, let’s just see what damage is done tonight. Are you telling me these are going to be peaceful protests? You don’t reclaim your streets by wrecking them and injuring people.

I worry about the poor police officers standing between the opposing protestors.

HopeNotHate on X is worth a view, they are monitoring the situation and the chants and who's targeted.

The anti Muslim chants and attacks on mosques are addressed to our current population who came here legally and are racist.

I agree immigration levels are part of the reason people turn out, and I think the government is aware of this all too well,

Its not racist to criticise levels of immigration however: and I wouldn't call anyone posting on here racist and I don't think anyone has.

Rioting in Belfast now. This is becoming so so dangerous.

There is a large empty boat off the coast of England- put them all on there and throw away the key. Nothing can destroy British culture than those racist, fascists thugs.

When there were riots in Leicester last year between Muslims and Hindus nobody called them thugs. Likewise the Roma community who were wrecking their community in Leeds recently weren’t called any names.

Excusing the absolutely and diabolically inexcusable GG13. Find is unbelievable that you would.

Had they been shipped in from other parts of the country?

There a big difference in the gravity of a spontaneous local riot in a community which occurs as a result of a very specific local issue and people being informed in advance that a riot is being planned and travelling to go there specifically to riot.

Indeed Casdon- they are racist thugs- and anyone who supports them, knowing what they do, will have to take on that label. Because this is what they are, or what they will become if they join in.

Merseyside Police said eight officers suffered serious injuries including fractures, lacerations, a suspected broken nose, and a concussion.

Other officers suffered head injuries, and serious facial injuries, and one was knocked unconscious.

Three police dogs were also injured in the chaos, with Zoe and Ike suffering leg injuries from bricks thrown at them.

A third dog, Quga – who was bitten, strangled and kicked by an offender at the beginning of this month – suffered burns to her back leg, the force said.

This is SICK- and the cost will be massive. How can that 'protect British culture' which is all about mixed communities and tolerance of each other.

Precisely Casdon and IMO those on GN conflating the two are demonstrating their support for the current far right, extremist riots … and they know it.

I live nit too far away from Sunderland. It’s my husband and son’s football team where they go as season ticket holders. The city is friendly and residents have been there early to help clear up. Businesses have brought food out and the local council had worked through the night to get things cleared up. This is the Sunderland that I know not the scenes that brought tears to my eyes before bed last night. So very very sad. Let’s hope the culprits get what they deserve locking up!

Yes.

One question. Can anyone explain why the riots are mostly centred in the north?
