Except ps AR was at work in the recess!
I think someone got out of the wrong side of the bed
Have to say this sounds like a non news story but it seems some are getting hot under the collar about it. Personally I don't think there is anything wrong with a young woman like Angela enjoying a holiday in Ibiza and dancing in a nightclub. She wasn't doing anything wrong.
I like the fact that Angela is from a working class background in the North, the same as me, it makes her far more in touch with those who feel that politicians recently are on another planet. She also has fire in her belly and God forbid a love of life. Reminds me of a young Barbara Castle.
Keep on dancing Ang, but keep your smartest moves for those opposite you in the HoC.
Except ps AR was at work in the recess!
Surely what this whole bizarre conversation is about is her JUDGEMENT. She is the Deputy Prime Minister of this country; I don't care if she pole dances naked in private, it's her life. What it says to me is that she doesn't care what her behaviour looks like to people back home struggling to make ends meet, to pensioners worrying how they are going to pay their bills this winter, to the rest of us wondering what "pain" Starmer is going to inflict on us in the next Budget. Doing a strange dance with Denise Van Outen whilst clutching an overpriced bottle of water is akin to saying " let them eat cake" !!

Cossy I really wouldn’t be too sure.
I’m pretty sure it won’t. We were all very happy and dancing, we had a lovely lovely day

Why were you not outraged at Johnson and Sunak’s vacations? After all they helped cause this cost of living crisis many are facing?
I cannot, for the life of me, understand why some of you are criticising a woman you barely know.
ronib
I know a young woman who almost died from alcoholism. She is very beautiful, clever and now has a great life. I am probably more aware than most and I think we need to do better.
My paternal grandfather died from alcohol abuse, both my parents drank very heavily.
I’m sorry about your friend, it’s tragic, but not everyone who drinks will die.
My daughters wedding was an exception for me as I rarely drink these days, my daughter barely drinks alcohol.
I do understand your concerns, no one at the wedding was out of control, it was a nice reception in a lovely hotel, everyone was respectful
Cossy - could it be that the very idea of a northern woman, who grew up in a working class community with many on long term benefits rather than working but who went on to succeed in life is somehow threatening?
Angela was a carer for her mum who had mental health problems. As with many child carers, her education was affected, no one at home to make sure she ate well, did her homework or got to bed on time. Despite the odds, Angela succeeded. As a teenage mum, she made use of the support offered at the family centre. When employed in Care she took advantage of the educational opportunities her Union offered. She’s the kind of success story anyone who has been involved in supporting vulnerable, disadvantaged young mothers work for
It doesn't say that to me*Buffyfly9*. MPs and ministers pay exactly the same taxes as we do and AR will be as acutely aware of what it's like to be poor because she's been poor unlike many of us posting here. I don't expect MPs to wear a hair shirt to demonstrate their commitment to their constituents and their party. Frankly likening her to Marie Antoinette is ridiculous except that MA was also represented in what was the social media of the day somewhat unfairly.
Cossy. I was even more outraged with Johnson than I am with her. Trust me!

Well let’s just say Ibiza is not an aspirational destination for a member of the ruling elite?
You are such a snob!
Michael Gove in a disco in Scotland. Didn't even want to pay the £5 entry fee. Mind you, he wasn't a minster at the time.
Then you have Therese Coffey dancing to "Time of My Life" She wasn't deputy PM then - just the minster for work and pensions- a reminder in case you've forgotten

Ibiza is a stunning Island.
Far more to see and do than just all night clubs.
They have many Family Friendly Beach’s along with quiet unspoilt ones, Old Towns, 5* Hotels, luxury Villas…
As you can tell it’s a favourite in our family, AC and GC love it!
Some people like being called snob, they think they are being
posh
I don't have a problem with it either, the right wing papers have really got it in for her. Her crime? Being an outspoken working class woman.

Have you seen Gove dance? And Johnson? Did you say anything about that? I am a pensioner and I say enjoy your holiday to her. You carry on clutching your pearls, bonkers.

And crossing her legs in the H of C.
As my first and last comment on this thread, I think that AR or KS or any politician should be able to enjoy a Summer holiday.
If they have a drink and a dance, unless falling down in public or making a total ass of themselves in other ways in public then so what?

You obviously don’t know Ibiza, it’s not all like Benidorm at it’s worst.

Casdon twerking and neat vodka are not in my vocabulary …. In fact I don’t even know how to twerk. Do google.
I know what twerking is and the clip I saw she was not twerking. So do try to get some basic facts right, I know you dislike her due o your politics but try to be more fair.
I thought I'd better watch it.
She's not twerking, it looks more like Mum dancing to me.
She looks better in that red dress (just saying)
There is nothing to support any of this except that AR was in a club, having a drink and dancing on her holiday.
I wonder what the next "worrying" thing will be?
She's probably holding her drink in her hand because drinks can get spiked. Even in nice pubs and clubs in quiet towns.

Could switch to Peter Kyle for having the audacity to become a government minister despite being severely dyslexic and struggling education wise whilst at school? We’ve got a right load of over achievers in the current government unfortunately…still, only five years to go before we can get some proper people back in government.
I would be very proud of anybody in my family who overcame the hurdle and stigma of dyslexia
I do hope you were being ironic.

Can I refer you to the thread about snootiness re holiday destinations?

I agree with all of this.
I know some think she’s “common”, but actually I quite admire her bluntness, as I had a Granny from Lancashire I have no issue with her being Northern and those who say that she’s not up to scratch as an international figure representing the UK, well did they think Truss and Johnson were?
Sadly she is representing this country but she isn't representing me.
