What is unbelievable is the amount of vodka consumed….

Have to say this sounds like a non news story but it seems some are getting hot under the collar about it. Personally I don't think there is anything wrong with a young woman like Angela enjoying a holiday in Ibiza and dancing in a nightclub. She wasn't doing anything wrong.
I like the fact that Angela is from a working class background in the North, the same as me, it makes her far more in touch with those who feel that politicians recently are on another planet. She also has fire in her belly and God forbid a love of life. Reminds me of a young Barbara Castle.
Keep on dancing Ang, but keep your smartest moves for those opposite you in the HoC.

Better than an alcoholic I suppose which is on the cards for young people now MissAdventure
Young people have abused alcohol and got “bladded” for decades, I know I did!
I don’t think AR having a video released online will affect any teenager drinking.
Sorry, but let’s agree to disagree on this.
I still have relatively young children still living at home (youngest son of 22 has never even heard of AR)
I can't help thinking that parent's attitude to drinking is more of an influence on young people than AR. TBH I doubt many young people even know who she is but I'm sure they see their parents and their parent's friends drinking on a regular basis.

How on earth do you have any clue how much vodka she drinks or drank!
I was at my daughters wedding yesterday and I consumed far too much champagne! I don’t think this will influence my 10 year grandson to become an alcoholic!
Cossy I really wouldn’t be too sure.

Were you actually there in the club with her ronib? If you weren’t how can you possibly know how much vodka she consumed - are you still getting gossip and repeating it?
So because she is a woman and having fun on her holiday does that mean that she will be less effective in helping rule the country. Well of course not but some gutter press journalists with their voyeuristic photographers seem to think so.
This has got to rate as one of the weirdest conversations, ever, here.

It’s not the drink you have to worry about when clubbing.
It’s the dry substances you have to worry about, not the wet stuff.
Btw. People who go clubbing don’t want to get off their faces with drink, they are there to dance.

Repeating myself here.
IT WAS DENISE VAN OUTEN WHO PUT THE VIDEO UP 🤦🏼♀️
I know a young woman who almost died from alcoholism. She is very beautiful, clever and now has a great life. I am probably more aware than most and I think we need to do better.

It's the stuff someone might use to spike your drink.

One young woman’s case does not tell the full story ronib. If you must worry at a large scale about drinking, do so for men and women in their fifties. Will they be influenced by seeing Angela Rayner drinking a cocktail - I think not, they are busy imbibing wine in their own homes, like many of us do.
Michael Gove is reported to be a frequent user of cocaine. Videos of him dancing in clubs (where drugs/alcohol are consumed) tend to support the persistent rumour
In 2022Johnson deliberately lost his security detail and was missing until he appeared at an Italian airport, dishevelled and clearly the worse for wear. It was alleged he’d been partying with the Russian ex kgb man, Alexander Lebedev at his villa after a NATO summit and without his security detail. In July 2020 Lebedev was nominated for a life peerage by Johnson. Yet here we are, with ronib worrying about the possibility Angela Rayner might encourage young people to drink because she (allegedly) drank and danced in Ibiza

Please don’t assume you are “more aware than most”. Many threads on this forum show how many posters have themselves, or a close family/friend/loved one have had direct experience of alcoholism and/or substance misuse. We also have posters who worked many years in mental health or other services related to addictions.
Some of us are more aware than others of the dangers of excess alcohol, Some of us can have a glass of wine without drinking ourselves into a coma. Some of us have no issues with a woman having a great time on holiday and or use it as an excuse to demonise an entire political party.

I trump your young woman with both my parents, my brother who were alcoholics and a drink dependent sister.
Since 2005, the overall amount of alcohol consumed in the UK, the proportion of people reporting drinking, and the amount drinkers report consuming have all fallen. This trend is especially pronounced among younger drinkers.

What have you actually got against Angela Raynor Ronib ? Is it because she an attractive young woman who has been very successful in her life after a not brilliant start
You seem quite fixated and you seem to be more and more in the minority on this one Why don’t you just leave it and have a go at someone else for a change
Let’s make a start….
What about the Tory’s wife Lucy Connelly who wanted people to torch the refugees hostel by saying ‘….set fire to the effing hotels full of the bxxxxxxs for all I care’
hopefully she ll get a prison sentence What do you think to her Ronib?
Could switch to Peter Kyle for having the audacity to become a government minister despite being severely dyslexic and struggling education wise whilst at school? We’ve got a right load of over achievers in the current government unfortunately…still, only five years to go before we can get some proper people back in government.
MayBee70 I don’t understand you at all. What has Peter Kyle done to bring his office as an mp into disrepute?
If politicians need to let their hair down in the way AR enjoys, there’s nothing I can do about. Wonder what her next adventure will be? She must be under an awful lot of pressure. Yvette Cooper seems to be much more professional so far and coping well with public office. It’s all a question of style. Perhaps Yvette could give AR some tips?
You just seem to have it in for Labour MP’s ronib. I just thought I’d give you the opportunity to slag off another one. Why does going on holiday and dancing bring Angela Rayners office into disrepute?
Jeez. Some of the comments! She's not meant to be at work while Parliament's in recess; she owes none of us anything outside of her job; she can dress in a clown outfit complete with mask and get up to twerk every ten minutes when she IS back at work so far as I'm concerned, just so long as she does her job well and with honesty and commitment - which for certain wasn't the case with her Tory counterparts before the GE.
@ronib was that a genuine comment or a joke?
Lucy Connelly is not the Deputy Prime Minister nor is she any form of government official, as far as I am aware.
I would love the new government to succeed and am looking at the sunlit uplands in great hope. Just remember that this government does not have the support of the majority of voters and it hasn’t got off to the best start. I really do hope that it is up to the task.
It would be good to see professional standards of behaviour from all mps. I don’t know why Michael Gove is any kind of example for current politicians to follow. Obviously he had been in the job a long time and his marriage had broken up. The current regime has been in charge for two months only. If the pressure of the job is overwhelming at this stage of the game, then alarm bells should ring. I have nothing more to add.
