Have to say this sounds like a non news story but it seems some are getting hot under the collar about it. Personally I don't think there is anything wrong with a young woman like Angela enjoying a holiday in Ibiza and dancing in a nightclub. She wasn't doing anything wrong.
I like the fact that Angela is from a working class background in the North, the same as me, it makes her far more in touch with those who feel that politicians recently are on another planet. She also has fire in her belly and God forbid a love of life. Reminds me of a young Barbara Castle.
Keep on dancing Ang, but keep your smartest moves for those opposite you in the HoC.

Iam64 well it’s so difficult to find any real information about the event. All I know is that there are some very committed professionals who would find it difficult to dance away for 6 to 8 hours through the night and still have enough energy to do a very good job on Monday. But then they are probably not reliving their teenage years. They are the grown ups in the room?

No, they are the fit and happy ones among us, who train hard. Dance is incredibly good for the brain! I know many people who well into their 70's dance all night by eating a low density diet and taking care of themselves.

What about Paddy Jones (born in 1934) She's an amazing dancer and still going www.youtube.com/watch?v=JPOTQ7jMsx4 She obviously doesnt need to do a days work after due to being retired. Or what about this lady ? www.youtube.com/watch?v=L4Tv1WTHbO4

Some people are putting in a full day's work as a dancer well past retirement age.

Dancers are always nice people, probably because of all the good endorphins.

You can always tell who dances and who doesnt, just by their attitude.

Well, we should have guessed with the “aspirational” holiday destination etc that in the end it would all come down to an earnings comparison.

The photo was taken on the Thursday, she was back in Parliament on the Monday. Those missing 3 days need accounting for 😁

MissAdventure Sat 07-Sept-24 18:56:12

I'm sure we can make something up to account for those days.

I'm going to use "the conservative woman" to glean my info.

Iam64 Sat 07-Sept-24 18:57:48

I wonder how many contributors to this thread could still dance, even when/after consuming alcohol yet get up and go to work, where we were so on task, happy and positive that no obe knew we’d been in Ibiza 4 days ago? Ok I fibbed I’ve never been to Ibiza.

As we read and comment, one if my adult d’s is dancing the night away at a park party she arrived at about midday. She’s designated driver but her group are consuming alcohol. They will all be up early to collect the children they’ve cruelly abandoned with grandparents.
I don’t believe these 40 year olds are unrepresentative of their age group. I imagine they’d not bat an eye lid at Angela

Oh well at least we can buy our own clothes and spectacles….. what a sad indictment of the Uk this bunch is.

IoMGran well the country doesn’t need you or your husband so why not?

I am currently in rural France and soon I will be in the Isle of Man, after a sojourn with family in England. Did I mention one of my daughters is a doctor working at ST7 level in hospital. One of those 'junior' doctors so disparaged by Steve Barclay and Victoria Atkin, a bigger pair of idiots outside of their ability range I have rarely seen. So I come here and find people getting their gussets in a quandary over a newly appointed young female politician having a weekend on holiday during recess, and due to her class and party pearls were clutched in a effort to denigrate her. I am a woman who has worked in a male dominated tech industry from the early 80s. I will not allow this kind of pathetic behaviour pass unremarked, I don't care how much your DH may or may not have earned. So that's how I feel about the whole thing. Judge her on her policies and what she does at work. Don't do cheap point scoring because she lives in world you don't care to understand, even if you could.

MissAdventure Sat 07-Sept-24 19:20:42

We're getting into the realms of the totally off the wall again now.

Is there someone who can't buy their own clothes and spectacles, then? hmm

There's much more to life than buying clothes and spectacles, surely?! I don't think spending money gives people good endorphins?

I love a good dance. Good for AR for setting healthy examples. Anyone can get up and dance. Why should anyone limit themselves and live a joyless existance?

ronib Sat 07-Sept-24 19:26:45

IOMGran good bit of point scoring well done. No I don’t understand the new world of this socialist government which was elected by a minority. I remember another poster who has since been banned from GNet and she was struggling too.
FWIW we have a medic in the family too. So what? Actually she was the top student at medical school- so what? You might not be aware that Keir Starmer gave up his holiday to get on with the day job. Or perhaps he was just too scared to delegate to his deputy prime minister?

MissAdventure Sat 07-Sept-24 19:28:36

We all remember the other poster.
I'm surprised there's not been (yet) another thread.

So, that makes about four of you, I think.

00opsidia Sat 07-Sept-24 19:29:32

What help is it having a medic in the family if you don't know how to enjoy yourself or get good endorphins?

FWIW I have a medic in the family as well !

ronib Sat 07-Sept-24 19:30:14

MissA do try and keep up. Yes Keir Starmer needed £20k from a friend to buy clothes and spectacles. Yes Conservative Woman which is not remotely conservative is a good starting point for widening one’s horizons.

Siope Sat 07-Sept-24 19:30:37

There are undoubtedly many many people who can’t afford new clothes and glasses MissA but ronib has now moved on to whining about Starmer who (according to some media) accepted donations for this and gave the donor either a civil service role or they keys to number 20 - he did both, I forget which was the specs donor and which another donor.

00opsidia Sat 07-Sept-24 19:31:43

Some people need to put some music on and dance!!! grin

ronib Sat 07-Sept-24 19:32:47

Ah, thank you. smile

Siope Sat 07-Sept-24 19:38:58

What socialist government? Oh, how I wish…

I think every government in my memory has been elected with a minority of the vote. It’s the nature of a FPTP multi-party system. Even the Tories highest ever vote share, back in the early 50s, was 49%.

Two donors, one of whom’s money was all hardly spent on glasses and clothes; one of whom did not have that accusation hurled at him. One was given a role in the Civil Service (at the Treasury, I believe) and one was given a key to 20 Downing Street. I don’t know which was which. I’m sure your ever accurate sources can help.

Siope Sat 07-Sept-24 19:42:40

Oh, piddle. all hardly = allegedly.

Was that want to be irony?

ronib Sat 07-Sept-24 19:53:32

Lord Alli - donated clothes and spectacles worth £20k to Keir Starmer. One donor.
Multiple benefits doubtless.

00opsidia Sat 07-Sept-24 19:54:07

Dancing is great for your health.

grin Some people need to get out more.

MissAdventure Sat 07-Sept-24 20:03:22

Alli donated twenty thousand pounds, but has always donated generously.
In return, he was given a temporary pass that expired at the end of August.

Apparently.

Fabulous Angela! What a woman.
