I like the fact that Angela is from a working class background in the North, the same as me, it makes her far more in touch with those who feel that politicians recently are on another planet. She also has fire in her belly and God forbid a love of life. Reminds me of a young Barbara Castle.

One of the most expensive clubs in Ibiza still doesn't sound as luxurious as some of the holidays other leading politicians have had for years At least she wasn't living it up at one of Berlusconi's Bunga Bunga parties, or cosying up to a Russian oligarch. A holiday in Ibiza is something an awful lot of us have done. Admittedly my holiday was in the 60s when it was properly cool!

It's the right wing press building a "sluttish" profile of her. She had an illegitimate baby in her teens, she speaks all northern like and now she's dancing like a loose woman in Ibiza (heavy implications of drugs, sex and moral abandonment of course).
If it was a young female Tory MP doing the same thing, the rhetoric would be "woman of the people" or some other positive spin.

Well I am the silly beggar who started it, not as clickbait but was supposed to be lighthearted to highlight how stupid it is for this story to be all over the newspapers, implying that the media are getting hot under the collar about it.
I actually have a high regard for Angela Rayner and am shocked at how this non story as I originally posted became a story.
Oh well, as the saying goes 'you can't please all of the people all of the time'.
And actually my Sunday afternoon has been very boring, was super Sunday so my DH and various members of the family have been glued to back to back football matches.

Read it again ronib, it says that she drank vodka. It doesn’t say that she drank neat vodka.
‘Asked whether she had managed it “with or without chemical support”, Ms Rayner reportedly said she just drank vodka,’.
It’s very easy to misrepresent what people say. Wherever you read that she drank neat vodka, it wasn’t in the Independent. Not that I care whether she did or not, she was on holiday. I can’t imagine it would be a story at all though if you were talking about a male politician drinking neat whisky, would it?
