For clarity I was not a fan of the Rwanda Scheme, seems at least one other Country’s government were/are.

Well, I can see the attraction for Germany if the previous UK govt has already paid for it....

facilities are ready and waiting I daresay that's all down to the hundreds of millions of pounds given to Rwanda by the British taxpayer. I think the grand total of 1 migrant, who wanted to go there anyway, was sent to Rwanda. A catastrophic waste of money.

To do this Germany would face similar challenges to the UK as their existing deportation laws would not allow this.

The houses that were built have been sold to native Rwandans. And they are at war with a neighbouring country (Congo?)
They still have problems from the civil war and massacre.
Who thought Rwanda would be a safe place?

It’s not just those two media outlets, it is over most of them and Newspapers

Joachim Stamp, Germany’s migration minister has briefed on this possibility.

Let’s be clear, there is no plan of the German Government to deport asylum seekers to Rwanda. The discussion is about processing asylum applications in third countries under international humanitarian law and with support of the United Nations.

A lot are housed on a barge on Portland. They are given a mobile phone, English lessons clothing, toiletries, 3 meals a day. They have a gym on board. Top of the range coaches with blacked out windows take them on cultural tours plus an hourly service into Weymouth Town all for free plus they get spending money each week.

I thought the barge accommodation had been ‘dropped’ also, if it’s the Bibby Stockholm.

They are housed in accommodation that belongs to the home office. There is some information here regarding the sites. One includes the barge which is being und down and will cease in January 2025

Is anywhere a "safe" place anymore. Even London with the ever increasing crime rate, stabbings, shootings etc etc,I wouldn't call a safe place.

To do this Germany would face similar challenges to the UK as their existing deportation laws would not allow this.

Think you'll find Germany are a lot stronger than us at getting people deported.

I suspect Germany’s asylum management arrangements generally are much better than they are in the UK. Shared intelligence across the EU, better detection and application processing arrangements, quicker decision making, etc. etc. , but those are all issues that the UK can remedy.

Make no mistake, Johnson, Sunak and the Tories were useless. But compared to Starmer, they look like geniuses.

More Daily Mail and Telegraph hype, Germany is not doing what the UK planned to do, they are looking at processing asylum seekers in third countries under international humanitarian law and with UN backing, not shipping people to Rwanda for life whether or not they have a valid asylum claim. There is a big difference.
