I'm not sure the Israel actions are sensible. How many little boys and girls are growing up in a state of horror in Gaza and Lebanon? Are they going to be peaceful neighbours in 15 to 20 years? They are being brutalised and I think there will be a price to pay in the future.

The aim of Iran is extreme Iranian style government across the entire Middle East, Hamas, Hezbollah and other terrorist organizations are simply fighters for that aim. It’s not just Israel Egypt , Jordan, Saudi, even Turkey spends a lot on military to counter that threat, It’s Iran that is the aggressor.

Iran funds and arms the terrorist groups to do the fighting for them.

I don’t have a problem with Israel defending itself. But I do have a problem with the person leading them and the motivation behind a lot of what he does, or more importantly doesn’t do. For one thing he has always been against the two state solution and his grip on power depends on extreme people in his government. And the fact that if the war ends he faces imprisonment himself. This is a recipe for disaster for everyone and all sides.

That is imposed on Gaza by Hamas, if they surrendered life could begin to be rebuilt, as long a Hamas remain active Gaza will suffer.
As long as the majority of countries support a terrorist group Gaza will suffer.

MayBe70 has just explained why I am against Netanyahu. How many times has he pulled back from a hostage exchange truce, because the 'hard right' threaten to take down the government? If he was no longer in charge, he would be facing prosecution. I believe that he thinks it is more important to save himself, than the remaining hostages. Being against Netanyahu is not being anti-semitic.
Now everything has escalated.
And, as Wyllow3 asks, why are the 'settlers' causing aggression in the West Bank?

I find it interesting that some heap so much blame on Israel. Of course they’re careful with their words so as not to be labelled anti semites and the op is wrong to state anyone disagreeing with Netanyahu’s actions at the start of this were labelled as such.

Watching the BBC programme on the massacre at the music festival it brought home the way the Israelis have to live. Bomb shelters dotted along the road sides in the same way we have bus shelters. Everyone knowing the drill - when the rockets come lay flat on the floor.

This is their life, day in, day out and has been for years. Rockets fired into the country daily. They aren’t fireworks! Young people hunted down like animals by grinning, blood thirsty sickos. All in the name of Islam. That’s what they were shouting as they set off on their rampage - “this is for Islam”.

As it’s their avowed intention to wipe every Jew off the face of the earth (not before raping the women and girls though - funny they aren’t that repulsed by Jews) I find myself more and more feeling the same way about them.

I have always felt, since a child, in my family's upbringing, post WW2, that Jewish people had a right to a haven.

I've made those thoughts and beginning clear on past GN discussions on Israel, and why I felt I could not give 100% backing on some aspects of Israeli governance as time went on.

I do not feel that to criticise a current leader, or to ask difficult questions, is to make me anti-semitic. I am aware that there are Jewish people who ask the same questions, who are dissenting voices, and they are not "anti-semitic". Just differing opinions

The only way to defeat terrorism is to take away the root cause of the grievances that cause it. Bombing civilians will only ever create more terrorists.

There are millions of Christian Arabs in the Middle East alone.
