Anniversary of Israeli massacre

In two days time it will be the anniversary of the Israeli massacre where around 1200 people were murdered and around 300 people were taken hostage.
Today there is a big pro Palestine march him London. Would it have been more respectful and appropriate to have waited till next week or later in the month for this march to take place, especially since the first bombing of Gaza started on 13/10/23 and Israeli troops first entered Gaza on 27/10/23.

I think we will all be relieved if this conflict ends. Too many lives lost and destroyed. I just hope Hamas don't regroup with a new leader.

I don’t think there will be many volunteers. It will be a patsy that those living the high life push forward.

Report of what was alluded to in the video clip on the BBC. They give sources.

Hamas is not a person it’s an ideology.
I’m just about to donate to the DEC Appeal for Palestine and Lebanon. Does anyone find it ironic that we are being asked to donate to the DEC in U.K. whilst at the same time the U.K. is still exporting arms, ie components for combat aircraft to be used against Palestinians?

Jeremy Bowen is in Ukraine or Gaza or Palestine?

Fleurpepper Fri 18-Oct-24 18:36:23

Jeremy Bowen confirms that this will probably make things even worse.

And confirms parents and families, doctors, watching loved ones and patients being burnt alive.

But if we condemn this, some will shout 'antisemitism'. Because Palestinian lives don't matter, because as they support terrorists, they are deemed terrorists themselves and 'fair targets'. This is just sick- and will make things much worse. Every Palestinian is now a Hamas supporter- what other choice do they have?

The Butcher of Khan Younis is no more.

The rightful end for him after he orchestrated the 7th October massacre to be cornered and shot by the IDF in a ruined house on his own.
It could be a turning point now in the conflict and a chance for what’s left of hamas to hand back the hostages and melt back into the population in Gaza, never to rule there again.

We can pray for that to happen.

Evil personified. I hope he felt fear before he died.

We don’t support terrorism we do support a people who have been treated appallingly for decades by Israel ,I have nothing but sympathy for the loss of the victims of Oct 7th last year but equally I have sympathy for the horrors visited on the Palestinians for 60 +years before then and the genocide since .Netanyahu MUST be stopped before more innocents die.
This is not justice this is indeed driving Palestinians out of their homes their country.Wakeup and see the truth!

Well said

We need also to acknowledge anti semitism has been ever present. Police confirm many more acts of anti semitism towards schools, synagogues, cemeteries than attacks on Islam. I know many will say it’s due to the war, to the dreadful suffering of the Palestinians people. But attacks on anything Jewish is abhorrent

This article gives the details.

I have just had this sent to me by a Jewish friend…

The Israeli population are eternally grateful for the protection that Iron Dome provides.

Of course, totally agree.

Thank you Willow3.

I have Jewish friends in the UK, in France and Switzerland, and the USA. They, and thousands of other Jews, including their friends and family in Israel, are totally against what Netanyahu and the IDF are doing, and all say that they are putting the safety of Jews and Israel at massive risk, and are concerned that he will take us all down with him and cause WW3.

Are they antisemite for denouncing this so-called war? They are Jews, with Jewish families, and many lived and still live in Israel, and have family there.

Wyllow3 Fri 18-Oct-24 12:48:05

I think its very important indeed to be clear its the current regime in Israel that people have reservations about not the Israeli people as a whole when we post, just as we should make a difference between terrorists and the innocents caught up in the war.

If you read Haaretz you can get a variety of view on Netanyahu and the way events are unfolding.

And there are many posts sailing very close to the wind, and often way beyond- in being Islamophobic. Every child killed, every one having to watch loved ones burnt alive or maimed, will become the new 'terrorists' Oreo. All Palestinians now support Hamas in a way they never did before.

As doctors volunteering in Gaza and now Lebanon say, they only care about suffering and pain if the person is white. If they are Palestinians, no-one cares.' The rats our of holes may seem to be about terrorists- but for some apply to anyone in Gaza or Palestine. That is the truth. Human suffering seems to only apply to some, for some (too many).

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Fri 18-Oct-24 11:52:37

And yet.

Meanwhile, the U.S. appears poised to support Israel no matter how it continues to carry out that war. According to a report by POLITICO released on Wednesday, the top White House official working on the humanitarian situation in Gaza said the quiet part out loud earlier this year when she said that Israel is one of a “tight circle of very few allies” that the U.S. will never publicly oppose or “hold anything back that they want.”

Then it is time to stop the killing in Gaza, use every means available to achieve a peace and get the remaining hostages released.

Yes.

Neither Islamophobia nor Anti-Semitism is acceptable in GN. I suggest either calling it out or reporting it in to GNHQ.
