The result will be announced at 11am tomorrow (Saturday) morning.

The "turnout" was not high. (Telegraph).

Kemi Badenoch was the favourite last week

"A survey of Tory members by the ConservativeHome website last week suggested, external Badenoch led Jenrick by 55% to 31%, with a further 14% undecided."

As regards discussion had to find an accessible website

www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cx2dqzqx2y1o

Will there be a surprise?

Happy to address it on the relevant thread.

But the name of the game seems to be to derail threads. Maybe the theory is if you shout loud enough, people will just give up and go away (I know that's how I feel). It appears that Trumpianism rules! RIP rationalism, balance and intelligent discussion!

Growstuff, you said that Kemi sways with the wind and I am pointing out that Starmer is no different! No one is shouting!

That’s just how it looks to me too. Then we get people deciding what should be discussed and what shouldn’t. hmm

Me too, for sure.

I watched a documentary about it years ago, where a woman who had been circumcised set up screening in a London Park, then invited people in to watch films taken of the actual process.

The most telling part was a group of young men, giggling and explaining how it was necessary to stop teen girls from going off the rails, and being obsessed with sex.

All very sure of themselves
Until they came out after watching the videos.

A couple were physically sick, all were ashen faced, most crying,, and all had decided that wasn't what they wanted for their future wives.

They understood how much damage had been done - not just physically, and didn't want to have sex with someone who would forever just endure it.

It’s a terrible thing to do to girls.I don’t agree with boys being circumcised either unless there’s a medical reason for it.I used to have ahem! Discussions with my Dad about this and I said glad I was a girl.
Maybe this film should be required viewing in schools.

Anyone watch the first appearance of Badenoch on PMQ today? A vigorous "one all"

Yes. Starting off as she means to continue. Confrontation for the sake of confrontation. I can’t believe I’ve got to watch and listen to her and Trump for the next few years. Mind you it was funny when, as she accused Starmer of reading from a script he pointed out that she, whilst saying it, was reading from a script! As for her comments re America. If it wasn’t for Brexiters like her we wouldn’t be desperate for trade deals with America. There is so much talk about our ‘special relationship’ with America but it was pointed out on TRIP’s that America professes to have special relationships with lots of countries ( which makes none of them very ‘special’ hmm does it?)

….I didn’t like her body language, either..

Wyllow3 Wed 06-Nov-24 15:59:04

I didn't know why she decided to demand twice that should Trump visit the UK, he be invited to address the HoC. I don't think any foreign leader would address the Senate or H of R in the USA?

Need to watch some more PM's to see if she addresses matters of real substance as opposed to trying to "Catch him out". But interesting times ahead.

Fleurpepper Wed 06-Nov-24 16:18:56

The 'reading from a script reply' by Starmer was brilliant.

MayBee70 Wed 06-Nov-24 16:22:09

I am planning to contact my MP to say that I do not want Trump to visit my country.

December 18th 1884 is the first recorded foreign dignitary to address congress, the then King of the Hawaiian Islands.

Boris Yeltsin has also, amongst others,

I thought the same as Wyllow3 a vigorous one all.😄

I thought she looked relaxed, when I expect she was very nervous.
Can't see any problem.

😁
Depends on the rest of the millions and what they want.
Actually it doesn’t, it depends on what the government want, and am guessing they’re keen to mend bridges.

LizzieDrip Wed 06-Nov-24 16:35:24

Trump should definitely NOT be invited to speak in the HoC. I will be writing to my (Labour) MP to that effect!

Badenoch does realise that she’s calling for a convicted felon and adjudicated rapist to speak in the seat of UK democracy, doesn’t she?

They can mend bridges without asking him to speak in parliament. Anyway, I have a right to tell my MP how I feel about it.

I’d much rather focus on the fact that the American gilts market has gone up and the Uk one has gone down…. It’s the economy which makes the biggest difference to people’s lives.

Is there anything in our constitution ( except we don’t have a written constitution do we?) to say that a convicted felon can’t address parliament?

MayBee70 Wed 06-Nov-24 16:47:28

In fact, wouldn’t Farage et al argue that convicted felons shouldn’t be allowed into the country?

Oreo Wed 06-Nov-24 16:58:42

We allow all sorts of dubious leaders here, often to red carpet banquets at the Palace.

LizzieDrip Wed 06-Nov-24 17:45:18

Maybe Oreo but, to my knowledge, we don’t invite them to speak in the HoC!

Another ten years in the wilderness for the Tories. 😀
