Friend's daughter was at uni with Catherine and William, and said she was always Kate. Then when they got engaged it suddenly became "Catherine " - perhaps that sounded more royal!!

I think her family always call her Catherine.
My mother tended to call me by my full name, not the shortened version my friends used and I never use DD's shortened name. When someone refers to her by it I think "who?" 😁

For 40 years I'd always been addressed by a shortened version of my rather unusual name; it was easier to pronounce, easier to spell and just a more common version of my real name. But as I got older, I decided to reclaim my name; in it's proper pronunciation, it's beautiful and unique. More importantly, it's my name, the one my parents chose especially for me. My name doesn't sound "more royal", but it is MY name and their came a time when I wanted to use it. Maybe Catherine feels the same way.

I always use my DDs correct name. Her friends call her something else. I don't think it's the gotcha people think it is.

I thought we were talking about Camilla here, not Kate or Catherine.

And yes, I do think Camillais proably more ill than they let on.

I just have a ‘feeling’ about Camilla Fleurpepper no more than that. I hope I’m wrong, but you sense it too.

She may have exhaustion, she has had a very stressful year,
when Charles was first having treatment she carried out duties
on her own, must have stressful when Catherine was diagnosed, too much stress in one family

Yes, I think I agree that it might all have just caught up with her, and she has nothing left to give. I'm pleased she has chosen, or been advised, to take time to recover.

A serious chest infection takes time to recover from. I once had 3 lots of antibiotics and steroids. A friend who was younger had 6 weeks off work - let’s hope Camilla is recuperating

The late Queen had the right idea by insisting everything from a mild sniffle to full on snot as a ‘chill.’

I used to imagine her propped up, wearing a lacy bedjacket, delicately sniffing while flunkeys brought her an endless supply of soothing potions. We were none the wiser.

Get well soon, Camilla. Even those of us who have never smoked know what it’s like trying to shake off a hacking cough.

A chest infection can rattle on for a long time but imagine she is getting excellent medical care and advice, the advice being no royal duties right now. Like many of us as we get older we often have other underlying health probs and am pretty sure she does too.
I imagine she will wait until the new year now.

And of course with Christmas coming up, she’ll be expected to appear at Catherine’s Carol Service, hosting the lunches for the minor royals who don’t get the invite to Sandringham, Christmas Day at Sandringham Church plus walk about, then the big Christmas dinner there…

And yes, I know she won’t be peeling potatoes and sprouts, rustling up mince pies and sausage rolls, basting the turkey….
but it still will be daunting if you don’t feel 100%.

I believe she’s off like a bolting rabbit to spend a belated Christmas at Ray Mill with her family as soon as all the Sandringham stuff is over and done with.

Fingers crossed. She was a heavy smoker, and even though she has stopped for a while, the legacy can be brutal, as was for my cousin.

Charles would fall apart without her.

I didn’t even know Camilla was sick. Nor that she smokes or smoked or that her dog died. How does this pass me by. .
