Is Queen Camilla more poorly than we think?

She wasn’t well enough to attend the Remembrance Service. Now it’s been confirmed that she will not be going to the Royal Variety Performance tonight. (Not that I blame her, I’d duck it too if it was on my itinerary). However these engagements are 3 weeks apart. It got me wondering. I hope she’s okay.

At least she isn’t taking a valuable NHS appointment with her self inflicted smoker’s chest.

Not nice.

Apparently she stopped smoking 20 years ago.

Camilla could cough in the audience of Who wants to be a Millionaire though! grin

Now I'm a bit of a linguist, and have an interest in Welsh, Cornish and Breton languages. My grandpa was a scholarly clergyman in Wales, ( Brecon College) and I'm sure he said that when the Bible was translated into Welsh, (15th century?), the K words were changed to C to make them sound more Latin, like the softer Romance languages.
Sorry to derail the thread. It's definitely Camilla not Kamilla!

Vitamin D supplements help the immune system but
not the pockets of big pharma

Queen Camilla would feel embarrassed coughing away through the performance so good choice to stay at home.

DH has this horrible virus. The Dr said it’s doing the rounds and could take up to 8 weeks to clear . He had his annual blood tests while he was there and they’ve come back abnormal, so the surgery have booked him another appointment. Never known anything like it.
It might be a while before the Queen feels back to full strength if my DH is anything to go by, he’s younger too 🤞

My elder daughter Catherine, named after many generations
of our family all born in Anglesey , no K in Welsh language

Well every days a school day, I never knew there was no K in Welsh. As the Princess of Wales it is a good job her parents chose the C version.

Yes, Katherine will be doing her Carol concert.

Don't want to be picky but her name is Catherine.

Isn’t it funny how people who say they don’t want to be picky then go on to be just that!
If you don’t want to be picky, then don’t be!

Well it is rude to get a name wrong so although I hate being picky I think when it comes to a name it needs to be pointed out.

There are many NHS appointments being taken up with thousands of ‘self inflicted’ smokers chests.

Along with all other, ‘self inflicted’ ailments.

I wish them no harm but really they don't operate in the same world as the rest of us do they?

Tetchy Charles at his costly coronation for example.

Grantanow Sat 23-Nov-24 11:22:48

It's all speculation. But she will be getting the best of medical care without struggling to get a GP appointment or being fobbed off with a paramedic or told to visit the local pharmacy.

There is nothing more personal than one's first name and the C/Katherine spelling is one of the touchiest of them old.

We have Catherine's in our family. It comes down the Irish side andd we get very picky if anyone spells our name the English way with a K. Irish Catherine's always use a C, or so we believe.

Calendargirl Sat 23-Nov-24 07:01:38

It’s Liza with a zee, not Lisa with an S

Picky or not, It’s Catherine with a cee, not Katherine with a K

When you travel around it is quite common to catch nasty viruses. There is definitely a cough thing going round Australia at the moment and it is quite nasty , sometimes leading to pneumonia . It is very upsetting, two of my friends have actually died in the last week or so through pneumonia. Both were 80 + and also had other things wrong but that was the last straw.

merlotgran Fri 22-Nov-24 22:23:38

I’d be coughing like a good’un all day if it would get me out of going to the RVP. 😂

lemsip Fri 22-Nov-24 22:07:39

she can not go to a concert if she's going to be coughing all the time can she. That why she couldn't go to rememberance service also. so that is the reason.

I'm not a royalist butI think Camilla is a wonderful force of nature & very attractive. However, don't forget that she will be receiving the very best of healthcare & be toasty warm too, unlike the rest of us poor Plebs who just pay the taxes & get sub-standard healthcare & can't afford to heat our homes properly. Open your eyes people, don't believe all the spiel.😬

I'm warm in my Damart vest and new socks.

Camilla seems to have picked up the bug around the time of her Australia/India trip so maybe it’s a strain that we in the UK have no immunity against yet?

Though there do seem to be some vicious germs about just now. A three weeks plus illness is not unusual, to go by friends’ experiences recently.

I've had it for six weeks and after 12 days on antibiotics and one day off I have a horrible feeling it is getting worse again already. I'm so fed up with it.

It seemed to get better then get worse.
I did go to see a nurse practitioner but didn't need antibiotics.
It's taking time.

I got brilliant care at my local hospital and from my GP and I'm also toasty warm. Still not well though.

Maybe you are the one believing all the spiel?

There are some vicious viruses around that linger. Chest infections are grim, serious illnesses, they’re miles away from a ‘chesty cough’.
She’s wise to rest as much as possible
