Drones over lakenheath

Hi just been listening to Tom Swarbrick on the Radio. Apparently there are super efficient drones over all our RAF bases and no one has said they know what’s going on. An expert rang in and said it’s very worrying as the drones are going over even where the airmen are based. He thinks this is Russia. Another caller reckons they are alien! Any one any thoughts? Apparently it has been going on a week.

I would imagine the RAF could easily shoot them down.

I thought that but apparently they can’t because of the damage that might cause, I guess when they come down. It’s really spooked me and they had a girl call in who lives near one of the bases and she said American jets are flying back and forth she can see the drones as well.

Not sure that is allowed in the U.K. ?

Apparently the expert said they may be being flown by people here but under the directions of Russia. It’s on LBC now.

ALL our RAF bases. Are you sure about that?

Septimia Thu 28-Nov-24 18:25:29

Some reports state that the drones have been seen over bases used by the USAAF rather than the RAF.

I don’t think so.

Maybe it's the RAF Regiment trying out their 'ghost' drones...

Nannynancy Thu 28-Nov-24 18:43:28

No I wasn't sure. Just what I heard on the radio. It said basesin Suffolk, Norfolk and somewhere else I can’t remember.

Nannynancy Thu 28-Nov-24 18:46:28

“Since then, we have received information that the incursions were more widespread, occurring around multiple bases. Now we have confirmed that the drones are back near RAF Lakenheath as well as RAF Mildenhall, which is a very concerning development to say the least.”

Indeed you have and it might be a good idea to learn more about the facts before posting inaccuracies.

I beg your pardon what inaccuracies ?
I said I heard it in the radio.

IF they really are a threat I’m sure the US Airforce will cope.
Maybe a laser over open ground, or a shotgun out of a helicopter, sounds quite fun.

sounds quite fun

wow!

If you lived around here you would know that American jets are always going back and forth. Have done for years. I must admit they do seem to be busier these days,
They used to use the church in Beeston as a landmark. The church that Edith’s mother got married in- on a bed. (Allo-Allo)

You repeated something serious that you hadn’t checked out yourself. You were just assuming that it was the truth.
Therein lies danger.

Nannynancy Fri 29-Nov-24 12:37:32

Ok, I said all bases, when it was infact multiple bases. I’ll try not to make the same mistake again.

Please don't fall out. No harm was done.

Plane spotting

sarahcyn Sat 30-Nov-24 11:17:47

Since RAF Lakenheath actually has a well-signposted designated “viewing area” and cars full of plane spotters parked all along the roadside some days, I doubt anyone could learn any more with drones!

oldeman Sat 30-Nov-24 11:18:48

I think the RAF will know who are flying the drones and if the country was in danger the drones would have been shot down or removed by hi tec forces.
