Nothing wrong with questioning the integrity of a cause you may donate to.
It would be bit silly to go in blind.

I do see one post which hints at virtue signalling, but no direct criticism of GB news for hosting this initiative,

indeed praise. Yes, what people have said about checking the charity out, but thats hardly criticism GB news per se.

I'm not trying to play you on this one Shinamae genuinely cant see it.

Fair enough if you're fed up, but don't see criticism when it's not there.

I come across some very vocal criticism of GB News in real life. It's almost laughable because the ones who almost spit the words GB News watched it in its first week and dismissed it. Just the names of some presenters makes them think they 'know' the entire output.

It's my choice of channel now in the early morning if I'm up and about. The adverts get on my nerves but not as much as BBC breakfast does. The only time I catch up with the BBC now is in the early evening and that's so I also see any local news. I flick through Sky and other channels if we are around. Any presenters that bothered me have now left GB News.

Well done Patrick Christys. He gets a bit over exited at times but he certainly isn't just talk. He seems very genuine.

I am really enjoying listening to the daily advent message read out by ministers on GB News. It is so refreshing. I wish more people would tune in, instead of spreading their negativity.

I am the person who looked up the charity and who looked to see if it was actually a GB News initiative.

I am a big fan of charities and have worked in and with several...
I used to have funds to distribute on behalf of the Vicar's Relief Fund which was a truly amazing charity promising to turn requests round in just a couple of days. I know they operate a bit differently now but they are still one of my favourites.

I like to know who is doing what. The charity benefiting from this fantastic fundraising was not one I knew.
I don't generally watch this news channel (though i have on occasion) so the presenter was also unknown to me.

My purpose for posting was to add clarification to the thread. GB news viewers raise money which was the title of the thread. This made me (incorrectly) assume it was a bit like the BBC Children in Need. Obviously it's not.

I honestly thought I was just adding detail.
The first post didn't really tell me much.

I don't think most of us on here are trying to turn the fundraising into a negative - that is way off the mark.

I have no idea who Patrick Christy is and have never watched GB news but I applaud anybody who raises money for charity. But do “stunts” raise more money than regular appeals? They put me off!

I am not really religious but the daily advent calendar messages on GB News are totally uplifting. There was a young clergyman on tonight and his message really touched me.

I think maybe younger people give more to stunts. They don’t put me off though!

Well done GB News and I must also mention their Christian Advent messages from all over the country each morning since the beginning of Advent. Generous, fair and promoting the Christian message.
