Nearly £200,000 for pensioners in poverty…
I’m sure some of you will find a negative even in that…🤓

Agree JudyBloom, I’ve enjoyed the Christian Advent message and look forward to it each morning. Gives us hope in a turbulent world.

What has he done to raise the money? If he's done some marathons or organised some big event well done. If he's just said I want your money for this charity I support big deal. I give to the charities I support.

I don't know who he is so no idea what he's actually done.

Patrick Christys did a swim in Freezing Stickle Tarn as he promised if GB News raised money for Friends of the Elderly; £ 260,000 was raised.

I bet his stickles were freezing, too!

theworriedwell Sun 08-Dec-24 19:49:41

Well that sounds like a real challenge.

Obviously the public thought it was a worthy challenge or they would not have donated. 🍋🍋🍋

A quiet word of support for BBC Radio 4's whose Christmas Appeal has raised over 9 million pounds in the last 2 years alone. It gives support for the homeless across the UK.

MissAdventure Mon 09-Dec-24 10:18:00

👍

Wyllow3 St. Martin in the Fields (and its Vicar's Relief Fund) is my favourite charity.
Such a lot of great work done there.
I am so glad the BBC still supports it.

Wylow3 Surely it would have been more appropriate to 'have your quiet word' on a separate post? This post is about the good work GB News does for the less fortunate.

Casdon Mon 09-Dec-24 12:26:52

The point is love0c that this fundraising is good, but it’s not in any way exceptional, it’s what journalists celebrities,, and millions of unsung heroes do, across the political spectrum. Why would GB News need a special mention and nobody else who has done the same thing?

They had a special mention because I chose to give them one…

I agree with you, loveOc; cannot see the point of some of the comments on here. Money has been raised for a registered charity; well done.

Quite..

Oh dear me! Even at Christmas time the 'passive aggressive' can't keep stum!

love0c Mon 09-Dec-24 12:34:35

So glad it is not only me that has notice the 'not nice' comments!

Primrose53 Mon 09-Dec-24 20:00:38

I think Shinamae started the thread “GB NEWS viewers raise money” because for a fairly new news channel it is a nice idea for presenters to think of others.

Their audience has increased considerably and some of their presenters have already won awards in the TV industry.

A lot of us think it is a refreshing change from other channels who are very biased and boring.

GB News is detested on here by a few pearl clutchers because it dares to be different so we have ridiculous comments like “I don’t like any presenters because they are on GB News.”

Some evenings I am in fits of laughter when you get people on GBN from completely opposing sides having a good old ding dong, then before the end they are getting on great over a pint or a piece of music and often having a laugh too.

growstuff Mon 09-Dec-24 20:11:51

I suspect the reason the 'pearl clutchers' don't like GB News isn't because 'it dares to be different'.

lemsip Mon 09-Dec-24 20:16:40

Great Britain News.. or GB news is my go to News channel.

The daily advent calendar slots read out by ministers are very good

Pray, tell why then?

lemsip aren’t they uplifting? Just a few words but always very apt. I haven’t seen today’s message. I will put it on at 10.

Shinamae Mon 09-Dec-24 23:25:13

BBC or GB news…
No contest…….😉

love0c Tue 10-Dec-24 09:27:53

Shinamae I put GB on in the morning. Friendly, personable readers. They deliver the news, which is what I want, without venomous bias!

Exactly and yet they have so many haters
If it keeps them happy. 😂 I’m sure GB news won’t be at all bothered…

I don't think anyone said "I don’t like any presenters because they are on GB News", Primrose.

I didn't spot it, anyway.
