Has anyone signed the petition regarding him receiving a knighthood?
I personally don’t think he’s done much for making the streets of London safer
Knife crime up, shop lifting, scooter/ bike crime up- all under his watch. May be wrong but what good has he done?

The man is a self serving racist disgrace who has overseen London turning into a dump, but looking at the majority of The House of Lords one wonders how many actually deserve their places, or indeed other than the checks and balances they put on the Commons one wonders at their function and place today.

Oh dear...

If they can Knight Tony Blair, they can knight any Tom, Dick or Harry…….

I came up against a paywall.

I was curious so signed up for a freebie month.
Makes eye opening reading, does the possible good he's done, outweigh the awful state of our capital city, not according to the article.

Wyllow3 Tue 10-Dec-24 11:48:06

I guess I'd be looking at the variables and asking "what and how with given resources could he have done better" specifics.

I don't live anywhere near London as some here who support Khan have, to assess.

How many of you applauding Khan actually live in London

All crime has increased since his tenure.

vegansrock Tue 10-Dec-24 14:22:18

I live in London.and voted for Khan. He’s done far more positive things than the Tory press would ever admit. Crime has increased in Birmingham and Manchester too - I guess Khan is to blame for that too.

Not only has crime increased throughout the country, JdotJ
but it is higher in other areas of the country than in London.

Care to say whether you live north or south of the river, and east or west? Those south of the river, and especially southeast don't get the same public transport service for a start.
Strong local opposition to the location of the new crossing (Silvertown) was totally ignored by him, the 'consultation' was a waste of time and money, he was determined to have his way. As it will share the same approach road as the Blackwall tunnel for some distance the increased traffic it will generate won't be good for local pollution levels.

Everyone seems to agree that the honours system is a disgrace, but nothing gets done about it.
Apart from reforming the House of Lords, all honours should only be made by a committee of knowledgeable people, not PM's.

Give Khan’s knighthood to Birbalsingh.

Totally agree on that 👏👏👏

She deserves to be in the H of L’s, hopefully on a cross party education committee.

I think not.
While her school has been very successful she presents as being strangely unbalanced from time to time.

I agree, I think its a bit cultish.

And doesn't have to be an either/or anyway.

That’s why I asked, what has he done? I was told the air was a little cleaner under BJ
I don’t remember all the stabbings under BJ, or two tier policing under BJ

Wyllow3 Wed 11-Dec-24 09:27:40

Where is your evidence the air was cleaner under BJ? "I was told" by who? when?
(Perhaps the air was cleaner anyway under BJ since that was a long time ago - Khan has to deal with how things are now not how they were. 2016)
.
If you look at crime statistics as posted above you'll see the rise across the country.

How has Khan engaged in "two tier policing?

People are clearly happy enough to continue to vote him in. Obviously he hasn't done everything to everyones satisfaction and he might have done some things differently and there will be disagreements but my family in London continue to vote him in believing he's done well enough on what must be one of the most difficult jobs in the country.

I don’t know if the air was cleaner under BJ, only what I heard. The two tier policing thing, I can only say what I’ve seen on the News (not bbc) as I wouldn’t trust what it does or doesn’t report!
I don’t know anything about the London Mayor & that’s why I am asking GNs what they think of him. I am not saying he’s this, that, or the other, as I have no knowledge of him.

Not true at all about air pollution Mt61. A very quick google result, not from the BBC.

Well this why I am asking?

I know Mt61, that’s why I posted the info? The measures have apparently had a huge effect, which is good news for Londoners.
