Yvette Cooper gets minced

Did anybody else see the video of Yvette Cooper in a Morrisons store handing out mince pies today?

It was hilarious because a local female resident could not resist going over and telling her what she thought of her and the Labour party.

She has just been on GB News talking about how very disappointed she has been and that she has always been a Labour voter. She told YC exactly what she thought in a very restrained way. She also said Yvette was making out she was donating mince pies but Morrisons donated them. She also ignored a homeless man who always sits outside the supermarket and did not offer him one.

This smart shopper told her exactly what she thought about the way Waspi ladies have been treated, how they keep on about a massive black hole yet they are giving more than that away to foreign countries for climate research, illegal immigrants, Ukraine, etc etc. she ended by saying she should be handing out blankets to freezing pensioners not mince pies.

She was just a 52 year old Mum but she was great!
Good on her I say.

Y’know fellow GNetters we have to be fair and if a Tory MP, say the Mogg had been stood in Waitrose😁 every Christmas for years handing out their own mince pies to Joe Public it would be seen as a stunt albeit an annual stunt.

The original message was probably just another disrupting move by a troll (and it worked!). Let's not fight over the change in governmental power, for pete's sake! Labour will do what they want, just as the Tories did what they wanted. Same old same old. Let's wish each other a "happy holiday" instead, regardless of our various persuasions, eh?

I am not a troll and I resent your remark.

Anniebach, looking forward to reading the answer to your very valid question, but not holding my breath.

Any update of Smugglers Christmas Special please? It's getting dark. My friends could do with a tip to get them over here. Thanks.

Maremia Tue 24-Dec-24 16:03:44

You have to concede that 'getting minced' is somewhat goady. Yes, I know, it was meant to be 'punny'.

That’s very fair! The very thought of it with Mogg is both cringy and hilarious.

Merry Christmas smile

Doodledog

I've heard reports that Farage is offering two visas for the price of one, and an amnesty on all family members under the age of 90 for the price of a pint.

Maybe not all reports are equal?

😂😂😂😂😂😂

Of course you’re not a troll Primrose53, but you made the mistake of posting something that showed negative opinions of YC.

Yes really.

I don’t think there’s a person on here who would disagree with you about the sadness for the drowned people. Who are the people who should really be sad about it? The people smugglers, but they couldn’t care less. That’s who YC should be targeting.

Anniebach Tue 24-Dec-24 17:18:53

How would you target the smugglers?

buffyfly9 Tue 24-Dec-24 17:28:19

It seems to me that anyone with a different opinion to that of the person reading a post is classed as a Troll. I've never met Primrose but I very much doubt she is an ugly creature of giant proportions nor are her opinions inflammatory or offensive as evidenced by the number of people who agree with her, myself being one of them.

Starmer and Coooer say the answer is to ‘smash the gangs’

🤣🤣 good luck with that one

No, I didn’t ask what the government has said needs to be done
to stop the boats, how would critics of the government do to stop the smugglers ?

Yes but quite brave to announce that they’ve set themselves that target.
If they achieve it we will all be delighted.
If they fail . . .

Can’t you find anything else to have a dig about !

That should be a question mark ? at the end, not an exclamation mark ! .

Handing out mince pies in a supermarket seems like a very odd thing for any MP to do.

Aparently she does it every year MaizieD.

Having had the opportunity to listen, as I assume everyone else has, I agree with those who feel it's good to be able to speak to politicians. Yvette Cooper certainly attempts to make that possible.

However, the women who accosted her doesn't appear to be interested in having a sensible conversation. She just wanted to shout right-wing newspaper headlines at Cooper, who tried to explain to the women that they are about to close the first seven hotels in January but the women just didn't want to hear it. She just gets more and more angry.

The language the women uses could have come straight from Nigel Farage. It's the sort of language he uses to wind people up. This makes me suspect she is a Reform voter.

Cooper offers support in the form of help-line numbers but once again this women claims that everybody is freezing to death because rich people aren't getting their Winter Fuel allowance. It's another example of someone believing everything they're told without questioning any of it.

The headline says "Yvette Cooper gets minced". I can't see that but I can hear a women whose swallowed a bag full of untruths and wants to shout them at others.

Yup, I know. I have been following the thread and even 'withdrew' that comment once I saw that she's done it every year for 20 years.

Apart from that I'm keeping off this thread, as I thought anyone with a grain of sense would have, but posters can't always resist the bait. The title told us exactly what it was going to be like grin

Can you imagine leaving your own country because it is torn apart by war, you are concerned for your children's safety, you wonder if your children will survive, it is hard to make a living, and feed your family?People must be desperate to put their beloved children on inflatable crafts to cross the channel having heard of the disasters that have happened before. Can you imagine going to another country not knowing what to expect with a very uncertain future? Please try and put yourself in the immigrants shoes.

Thanks madmumofboys, de-humanising asylum seekers stinks, frankly.

Anniebach, please keep repeating your question, what would those falling about laughing at the government’s hope to work co-operatively with our European neighbours to try and stop the OCG’s running the smuggling.

I can well imagine it. Then the appalling tragedy and guilt of losing your child because of taking them on an overloaded and unseaworthy boat simply makes the situation worse.
As I said, if they can smash the smuggling gangs, we’ll all be delighted.
It’s a brave target to set yourself.

Jeanathome Tue 24-Dec-24 19:40:07

What on earth does " smash the gangs" mean? It's slightly onomatopoeic I suppose. Its has a certain appeal. Lets get the baddies and then no more poor brown people will be in " small boats"

I think life might be slightly more complicated than that.
