I’d like a robust Stop and Search initiative. Knife crime needs tackling as an urgency. Loss of these young boys is beyond tragic.
And ID cards introduced (as in Europe).

You?

On a roll here.
Would talk to the King and Sadiq Khan.
Would drop 3rd runway at Heathrow.
Plan to enlarge the ports and develop green ships
Would build hostels with small secure cells so people could sleep safely overnight.

I know there are 400 "family hubs" but I also know that if SureStart still exists it must be different somehow and they must be doing something very wrong if they are closing in these times!

They may be "SureStart in name only?

The one near me is between a primary school and nursery.

It is right in the heart of the village.

The local midwifery team has its base there and carries out all the antenatal check-ups on site, along with postnatal baby/toddler checkups.

It has a drop in centre with tea/coffee and snacks with play place for the little ones. Advice on modern living and parenting available.

Not sure what more they can offer.

GrannyGravy13 Wed 05-Feb-25 08:18:08

Oops it also runs parenting courses.

I’m afraid there are areas of London where the police will always be on the back foot with stop and search.
The boroughs of Newham, Brent, Redbridge, Harrow and Tower hamlets have populations where 60% are ethnically diverse.
I’m only talking about London as it is the most ethnically diverse city in the uk.

Already in service:
Funnel emissions are sulphur-free, virtually particulate-free, with a 95% reduction in nitrogen dioxide. These three new ships of 42,200 tonnes each will be the largest in the Brittany Ferries fleet, with a length of 215 metres, making 3,000 lane metres available for freight.

All of the above. Hefty sentence for those caught carrying a knife, or any weapon for that matter.

I’d like that. But the prisons are full, so who would be released to make room for the knife- wielders?

Two empty forts in the river Humber!!

Thank you for that.
I gets slightly miffed when people complain about what’s not being done when it’s obvious they haven’t bothered to research what is being done.

Restore schools to local and central government instead of academies

Put pressure on the owners of social media platforms to monitor their platforms effectively, taking down all violent content. It’s perfectly possible for them to do this.

Nobody, but nobody, needs to see beheadings etc - it’s madness! Young people are becoming desensitised to extreme violence.

Elon Musk et al have a lot to answer for!

Agree 100%.

What a shame my daughter's midwife didn't tell her about surestart, considering she had her mastectomy when her baby was less than a week old, and chemo shortly after.

Homestead62 Wed 05-Feb-25 09:33:26

I would like something done about our NHS which is struggling. I couldn't even get to speak to a doctor and forget about seeing your own GP. I've possibly got to go into hospital, I have concerns and there is absolutely no one I can get to speak to till next week. I'm actually frightened by how bad things are getting. I'm actually scared to go into hospital now.

TheWeirdoAgain59 Wed 05-Feb-25 09:36:25

I'd like the death penalty brought back in for ALL animal abusers/killers totally irrelevant of age, gender, social status, excuses etc.

MissA it’s actually on the route of the bus that goes to Southend hospital.

MissAdventure Wed 05-Feb-25 09:40:13

Well, it's a pity.
Single parent, cancer, new baby and 4 year old in temporary accommodation.
Don't suppose it occurred to the midwife some help or support might have been needed. angry

Thats something I'd like to see - a joined up support system where multi agencies work together to help people when needed.

Cossy Wed 05-Feb-25 09:42:54

More “Bobbies on the Beat” and every school having their community Police Officer back, metal detector scanners at the entrance to all schools and shopping malls (maybe pubs too) and the introduction of ID cards.

Soz it’s more than one!

Much more funding put into community policing in areas with high knife crime stats.
More funding for youth clubs and youth workers/projects.
Legislation passed to get rid of leaseholders.

👏👏👏👏👏

The future of travel! The test run 10 days ago was amazing, not only pollution free, but so quiet too in stormy weather. (Not so attractive inside however as the old ships, though that's another story!)
The only question being, like with anything innovative, is how long will these new vessels last? No one knows, but if in say 10 years, replacement orders are having to be put in for China to build replacements, then are they such an improvement when the previous vessels lasted 35+ years? Progress is trial and error.
The new port infrastructure to accommodate these vessels is also huge.

Definitely a need for joined up thinking.

Like you we live between the two hospital districts and I know by my own experience that they do not communicate.

MissAdventure Wed 05-Feb-25 09:55:11

Oh, I know only too well.

The point being also, that giving people what they need, a little help, sometimes, would save money in the long run with repeat tests having to be done, appointments made when results to discuss arent available.
